Aspiring New York Drill rapper Kay Flock (real name Kevin Perez) took to Instagram on Wednesday (March 23) to give his followers an update on his current legal situation after he was arrested for the murder of a barbershop customer in Harlem last December.
As originally reported by The Daily News, the 18-year-old Flock was taken into custody on December 23, 2021 for allegedly killing Oscar Hernandez, who’d been waiting to get his haircut on the morning of December 16, 2021.
Police claimed Flock walked by the open door and asked what Hernandez was looking at before they got into an argument. The argument escalated outside of the barbershop, and Hernandez was fatally shot in the neck. Hernandez’s family claimed his killing was a case of “mistaken identity.”
Either way, police said the shooting was gang-related, considering Kay Flock is affiliated with the Bronx-based Thirdside Gang, but the Harlem lyricist told his followers not to believe what was being reported.

“All good don’t believe the blogs or the internet, everything trendy, forever DOA,” he wrote alongside a photo of him in a pink hoodie.
Kay Flock also posted a boomerang to Instagram showing the outside of a local New York City correctional facility, which may imply he’s in the process of getting released.
Flock was starting to gain some serious traction in the rap world before he was arrested. Last October, he linked with Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign for the “Not In The Mood” video. Before that, Flock had dropped two solo videos titled “Is Ya Ready” and “PSA,” both of which have roughly 22 million and 14 million views, respectively.
