Playboi Carti has been getting a lot of attention lately. Not for his music necessarily, but for his unique style. The “Sky” rapper, who tends to be pretty elusive on social media, made headlines last week when he posted a caption-less photo of him in unsettling, Joker-esque makeup prior to his performance at Kanye West’s Donda 2 listening event in Miami.
The Atlanta lyricist returned to Instagram on Monday (February 28) with another flurry of photos dedicated to his new look. This time, Carti is seen donning dark makeup around his eyes along with bright red lipstick. He’s also wearing a furry black jacket, combat boots and loose, baggy jeans.
Elsewhere in the photo carousel, he’s seen wearing a fishnet tank top underneath his big coat. Fans took to the comment section to offer their thoughts on Carti’s new look and also speculated his gothic new swag may be part of an album rollout.

“Carti what u on bruh,” wrote one disgruntled fan. Another wrote, “he definitely got something coming up if he posting this much.”
Playboi Carti dropped his highly anticipated album Whole Lotta Red in 2021. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and featured appearances from Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Future.

Playboi Carti is the most recent rapper to indulge in heavy makeup. NBA YoungBoy upset his fans when he told DJ Akademiks in an interview that he also enjoyed wearing makeup, which he fully embraced in his “Black Ball” music video.
“I like doing my face, I like painting my face or putting makeup on. I like to look in the mirror and see everything black, my eyes and sh*t.” YoungBoy said. “That’s 100 percent real. That’s me being myself. I feel comfortable in a way.”
