DaBaby pays tribute to his late brother, Glen Johnson, in the video for his latest single, “Lonely,” featuring Lil Wayne.

Directed by DaBaby himself, the wacky video finds the North Carolina rapper getting his Joker on, complete with a white, green and red outfit and makeup. After going on a mass shooting spree, DaBaby lands himself in a psychiatric ward, where he continues to wreak havoc.
Later, fellow patient Lil Wayne enters the fray and sits across a table from DaBaby smoking a blunt while he burns through his impressive guest verse. DaBaby caps off the caper-filled video by shooting the entire ward staff — before waking up in bed and realizing it was all just a twisted dream (…or was it?)
Despite the dark yet comical antics, the “Lonely” video carries some emotional weight to it as DaBaby closes the curtains with a P.S.A. about mental health awareness in tribute to his older brother, Glen, who committed suicide in November 2020.

“Mental health awareness matters,” reads the message, which is signed off by DaBaby’s real name, Kirk. “100 percent of us either deal with or know someone who is dealing with issues revolving around mental health on a daily basis. Take a moment after watching this video and check on our loved ones.”
DaBaby references Glen’s death in the song itself.
“As if I got a reason to act like I’m lonely/I saw my big brother laid out with his brains blown out, it’s been catchin’ up on me/Shit, how would you act if your bro took his life?/And you know that you rap and make all of these millions/And don’t even trap and you livin’ your life the best you ever had just to see it come crashin’, I’m burnin,” he raps.

Following his brother’s passing, DaBaby shared a heartfelt message on social media.
“Death don’t phase me at all, watching my family suffer does,” he wrote. “GOD watch over my family, my mama, my nieces & nephew & they mama, my brother. Don’t worry bout me take whatever you was do for me and pour it into them.”

DaBaby later revealed he’s seeking therapy to work through his own trauma and mental health issues. The Blame It on Baby rapper also suffered the loss of his father in 2019.
