21 Savage delivers menacing rhymes on a regular basis, but he’s had enough of the street violence taking place around him. The Atlanta-bred rapper took to Twitter on Monday (July 12) with a call-to-action, demanding all the violence in the world come to an end. He feels the hate is outweighing the love in the universe.
He wrote, “I wish all this violence would stop it seems like it’s more hate than love in the universe right now.”
Nobody had an issue with the message he was trying to get across, but followers in his replies essentially called him a hypocrite while reminding him of all the violent lyrics he promotes in his songs.
“This you big bro,” one fan responded with lyrics from 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s “No Opp Left Behind.”
Another added, “When you see someone who constantly puts out violent content & energy into the universe saying he wishes all the violence would stop.”
Could 21 Savage be pivoting from his aggressive lyrics in the future or is there entertainment value to his lane in rap? 21 mixed up his content choices when trading vicious rhymes to focus on the ladies when teaming up with Drake for their catchy “Mr. Right Now” collaboration from Savage Mode II.
Either way, 21 is heading out on tour with his “a lot” collaborator J. Cole and 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Morray as a supporting act on Cole’s The Off-Season Tour later this year. The trek kicks off in Miami on September 24.
