Lil Nas X caused a firestorm of controversy with his Satan-themed “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video and customized demon kicks. But now, it seems there’s another chapter to the ongoing saga. On Tuesday (April 13), the Grammy Award-winning artist encouraged his fans to run up the streaming numbers for the “Montero” single because it was starting to vanish from streaming services.
“not even joking. everybody stream call me by your name hard today because it may no longer be available tomorrow and there’s nothing i can really do about it,” he tweeted. “thanks for all the support tho!”
He added, “everybody screen record the audio/video on youtube so you will have the song in your gallery worst case scenario.”
But it appears Lil Nas X has an alternate plan. In a follow-up tweet, he revealed he’d be taking “Montero” to a popular adult entertainment website.

“since call me by your name is no longer working on many streaming services i will be uploading the audio to pornhub at 3 p.m. est,” to which the site replied, “We aim to please – honored to help you stream.”
Despite the controversy — or perhaps thanks to it — “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this month. The polarizing visual for the track has also amassed over 125 million YouTube views since its March 25 premiere. Directed by Tanu Muino and Lil Nas X, the video features the openly gay rapper grinding on Satan’s lap in nothing but a pair of booty shorts and black, leather thigh-high boots. It concludes with Lil Nas X snapping Beelzebub’s neck before he transforms into the Devil himself.
Of course, Christian conservatives were incensed by the dark imagery and took to social media to voice their concerns.

Pastor Mark Burns, who has appeared as a commentator on CNN and Fox News, tweeted, “This is evil and heresy and I pray that Christians rise up against this,” while Grammy Award-winning Christian singer Kaya Jones tweeted, “I told y’all what was up a long time ago! You are ready for what we are facing. Better start reading your Bible!”
