Azealia Banks rarely makes headlines for her music anymore. Instead, she typically becomes internet fodder for whatever outrageously controversial thing she said or did. 2021 is proving to be no different.

On Tuesday (January 12), Banks horrified her fans when she posted a video of herself digging up her dead cat. That on its own would’ve warranted the countless “WTFs” that followed, but it’s what she did after unearthing the corpse that really pushed people over the edge — she cooked it.

In the clip, Banks continually stirs a boiling pot of water and the carcass until its skull is visible. She captioned the post, “Lucifer 2009-2020. My Dear Kitty. Thank you for everything. A legend. An icon. Forever a serval serve.”

Banks has raised concerns over her mental health in the past. Last August, she sounded the alarm after she shared a series of Instagram post suggesting she was feeling suicidal.

“Yea, I think I’m done here,” she wrote.” This pandemic, extreme lack of social interaction, no intimacy, combined with constant public ridicule is making life harder than its worth.  I’m not begging for attention or asking for sympathy/empathy……I’m just ready to go. Peacefully of course. My soul is tired. I’m ready to go.

“I will document my last times and release a film for you all to finally understand me, from my perspective. I will try my best to finish the project I promised beforehand. With whatever strength left.”

As Banks’ name started to trend on Twitter, she quickly resurfaced only to condemn those who were concerned about her with, “What is this obsession u bitches have with my dispair? Don’t show concern for me when I’m down. That’s because I’m down. Support me when I’m up, bitch. Support me when I’m feeling good.”
