The New Year isn’t exactly off to a good start for DaBaby. The platinum-selling rapper was reportedly arrested on weapons charges in Beverly Hills on Thursday night (January 7).
According to TMZ, DaBaby was leaving the Moncler store on Rodeo Drive when he and three other men were surrounded by police just as they were about to drive off in their black SUV. Law enforcement sources say someone inside the store called the police and reported they were carrying weapons.
DaBaby and his entourage were detained while officers searched their vehicle. They ultimately uncovered one handgun and the 29-year-old was taken into custody for carrying a loaded firearm, a misdemeanor.
Footage of the stop shows officers telling DaBaby and his friends to roll down their windows before he’s asked to step out of the vehicle. He’s then walked onto the sidewalk and ultimately placed in handcuffs — mask on.
DaBaby is coming off a monster year, earning Grammy Award nominations in the Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance Pending and Best Rap Song categories for his collaboration with Roddy Ricch “The Box” as well as the Best Rap Performance category for “BOP.”
