Alchemist Establishes ‘A Doctor, A Painter & An Alchemist’ Album Installation

Alchemist is taking his A Doctor, Painter & An Alchemist Walk Into A Bar album in a new direction promotion wise.

The producer, whose 2020 has already included Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs and The Price Of Tea In China with Boldy James, partnered with DRx Romanelli and Spencer Lewis for an album installation. The installation can be found at Over The Influence in Los Angeles.

“OTI is excited to host the album installation “A doctor, a painter and an alchemist walk into a bar” a collaboration between DRx Romanelli, Spencer Lewis, and Alchemist,” the OTI Instagram page shared on Friday (October 2). “DRx Romanelli will be taking over our Live stories on 30 September and 01 October in the lead up to the private event on 02 October 2020.”

Alchemist shared a preview of the installation on September 28 featuring a coffee book featuring the creation of the installation, two vinyl pressings in black and yellow and more. The project was more than a year in the making according to OTI.

Alchemist Declines Madlib Instagram Battle: 'He Would Absolutely Destroy Me'

Alc’s 2020 has put him in rare air for producers but he’s already made clear he won’t be participating in a Verzuz style battle, especially against Madlib.

After he relented to the idea during an Instagram Live session, Madlib chimed in on Twitter in March, suggesting he’d be down for a beat battle – with Alchemist by his side.

    1. Great writing! “The legendary NYC producer” is and always has been from Los Angeles. He was born and raised in L.A.. do you guys just hire people at Target to write for this site? No knowledge of Hip-hop at all? He was born in Be early Hills. SMH

    2. Steps on making an Alchemist beat: find a random obscure song, sample the beginning of it, loop it for a minute and a half, add very little to no drums to it, bam! Alchemist beat. Anyone can do it, even a toddler. Which is why I always say he’s the most overrated producer we’ve ever seen.

      1. But he makes good songs and albums and it is all there is to it, who cares if a beat has 100 samples chopped up nicely, or one

        1. You don’t have the stomach for it doesn’t mean it isn’t dope, or others don’t enjoy it a lot. I hear this hate for drumless beats alot, and honestly it’s just salty. If anything it exposes just how closed minded one is to other styles. I’m glad we don’t have to depend on people like y’all solely for hiphop beats
