Young Thug had to pump the brakes on the hype train for his Slime Language 2 project. After a tweet sharing the supposed release date surfaced on his Twitter account, the YSL Records said the post was the work of a hacker.
“Twitter was hacked,” he wrote with a black heart emoji.
Thugger’s explanation makes sense because the date tweeted isn’t a Friday when most new music releases arrive on streaming platforms. The since-deleted tweet claimed Slime Language 2 would drop on August 16, which is Thug’s birthday but falls on a Sunday this year.
The original Slime Language was a compilation featuring Thug’s YSL Records roster. The 2018 release contained contributions from Gunna, Lil Duke and Strick as well as artists from outside the label such as Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby and Jacquees.

Thug hasn’t released a solo project since 2019’s platinum-selling album So Much Fun, which dropped on his birthday. More recently, he teamed up with Chris Brown on a collaborative mixtape titled Slime & B in May 2020.
