50 Cent Plots Release Date For Pop Smoke’s Posthumous Album

50 Cent vowed to take responsibility for finishing Pop Smoke’s last album on Sunday (March 1). The 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper was shot and killed during a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills last month, putting a swift end to his burgeoning career.

On Tuesday (March 3), the For Life exec hit up Instagram and revealed Pop Smoke’s posthumous project would arrive in May. The announcement was coupled with similar photos of the two rappers rocking head scarves.

“set for release in May,” he wrote in the caption. “oh yeah @postmalone i’m gonna hit ya phone, i need you on this.”

A couple of hours later, 50 confessed Pop Smoke was one of the only new rappers he liked.

“i’m looking at everything through a different lens,” he captioned a photo of himself. “everybody i call ain’t coming but i’m doing what i have to do to make it hot. i don’t like a lot of you weak ass n!ggas but i likes pop smoke.”

50 Cent Plans To Executive Produce & Finish Pop Smoke's Album

Snoop Dogg wrote in the comment section, “I’m waiting on the call cuz,” an indication Post Malone and Snoop are two of the possible guests who might contribute to the album. 50 also sent out smoke signals to Roddy Ricch and Chris Brown over the weekend.

Pop Smoke’s Meet The Woo Vol. 2 arrived only weeks before his death.

    1. Truthfully Pop Smoke wasn’t that good. RIP to Pop, but he wasn’t next level or the next big thing in hip hop. He was an average artist. People doing that D riding hard cause dude passed. Like Nip (great artist) but only had a million following before his death. After his death he has like 8 million following. Point being is people are fascinated and attracted to artists when they pass. Out of anyone who RECENTLY came out of NY I’d say Dave East the nicest. The NY Drill scene is wack.

      1. then u werent really listening… pop smoke actually was good, unlike nipsey who failed for years to break the stardom ladder.

        1. Thats a misguided statement because if you are independent and not on a major label and you handle every process of your music independently than of course its going to take longer to break into mainstream market. At least Nipsey had 100 % ownership and owns all his masters, i bet pop smoke didn’t.

    2. He was never good. When he was alive I new as the guy that stole a Rolls Royce and the same guy that got mad at his photographer for posting some weird pics of him online. Never heard his music. He is just a beneficiary of that old Tupac/Biggie trick – To become bigger in death. Most mainstream artists that are dead enjoy this benefit it is just all so natural. People are going to check for your music if you die.

    3. Pop smoke was that hard dark underworld demonic energy remiscient of old 50 or DMX .. It wasn’t about no gawddamn lyrics, it was about that primal energy… Certain ppl draw strength off that energy.. Whether u like pop or not, he definitely drew attention and appealed to his audience.. Dude wasn’t no lyrical poet laureate but he knew how to rhyme and deliver a high level of aggression…He was a great in the lane he was in.. Everybody ain’t gonna appreciate your music but those who know, know what’s up

    4. What good could Doodoo Cent bring to the album when he can’t even make a hit himself anymore, what does he know about good music, which is why myself and many others call this clown Doodoo Cent.

    5. Why can’t he show this kind of urgency with his own music. Street King Immortal has been in limbo since at least 2012, when he released that single with Alicia Keys and then another with Adam Levine and Eminem.
