Tekashi 6ix9ine was finally sentenced in his racketeering case on Wednesday (December 18) at the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse in New York City.
Due to his cooperation with the federal government, the formerly rainbow-colored hair rapper received two years in prison plus five years supervised release, 300 hours of community service and a $35,000 fine — a far cry from the 37 years he was originally facing.[apple_news_ad type=”any”]
During the hearing, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer chastised the 23-year-old Brooklynite for his involvement with Nine Trey for nearly an hour and didn’t believe he was an innocent victim, telling him, “I reject the portrait of you as a passive participant.”

6ix9ine’s sentence brings the exhaustive case to a close roughly 13 months after he was arrested alongside his ex-manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan in November 2018.
Naturally, Twitter has something to say. Some are shocked the sentence was so light, while others are surprised he got any additional time at all. Others, well, they are celebrating the perceived slap on the wrist.
Of course, an onslaught of colorful memes also hit Twitter, which Judge Engelmayer said he “appreciated” during the hearing.
