Buffalo, NY – Griselda Records leader Westside Gunn is on an incredible run. After signing a Roc Nation management deal along with Benny The Butcher earlier this month, he achieved another grand milestone on Wednesday (August 28) — and it literally hits even closer to home.

Byron Brown, the mayor of Buffalo, New York, officially proclaimed August 28 as Alvin “Westside Gunn” Worthy Day in the city.

“Mr. Worthy is a proud Buffalo native who is achieving great success in the music industry, having recently signed a management deal to [JAY-Z’s] Roc Nation label,” Brown tweeted.

“Words can’t describe the feeling I have … I work harder than anybody I know and it’s paying off in the community,” Westside wrote via Instagram. “I thank my city BUFFALO for supporting me and GXFR this is just the beginning.”

In addition to accepting the proclamation from the mayor, Westside and his team also held a backpack giveaway for children in Buffalo.
