The city of Houston declared August 30 to be “Bun B Day” back in 2011. The UGK member hasn’t forgotten about the special distinction as he plans to drop some new music this Friday (August 30) in honor of his namesake day.

“To celebrate #BunBDay this coming Friday I’ve decided to release an brand new EP!” Bun wrote on Instagram. “Featuring @yellabeezy214 @maxokream @youngdolph and more! Plus a listening party and t shirt pop up too! Info coming in a few days! Drop a [goat emoji] if you here for this!”

Bun’s upcoming EP is the follow-up to April’s TrillStatik album, a collaborative project with producer Statik Selektah. The EP will continue a steady stream of new music from the Southern Hip Hop legend over the past year, which began with 2017’sReturn Of The TrillLP.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Big K.R.I.T. — who executive produced Return Of The Trill — detailed Bun’s work ethic in the studio.

“He’s got the hunger to still give you quality verses to work,” K.R.I.T. noted. “‘Cause after he’d record a song, it wasn’t like, ‘Well, we good.’ He’s like, ‘Bet, play another record!’ I’m like, ‘OK, I got another beat!’ Before you know it, we done ran through five songs. And then now you’re talking about Gumball or shows he did back in the day. It was an amazing experience.”
