New York, NY – While 21 Savage remains locked up following his recent ICE arrest, JAY-Z is stepping up to help the British-born rapper. According to TMZ, the Hip Hop mogul calls 21’s situation “an absolute travesty” and will do whatever he can to assist — much like he did with Meek Mill.

@21Savage, She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is currently 26 years old, an engaged father of 3 children who were born in the U.S. U.K. born Abraham-Joseph has been living in the U.S. since the age of 7. In 2017, he applied for a U visa yet last week he was arrested by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). Last week, Abraham-Joseph also released an extended version of his single “A Lot” which speaks about immigration injustice; “Been through some things so I can't imagine my kids stuck at the border.” This is no coincidence. #FREE21SAVAGE
As a result, Jay has enlisted Roc Nation to respond to a “matter of injustice” by hiring attorney Alex Spiro.
“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge,” Spiro said. “What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
The I Am > I Was artist was taken into custody on Sunday (February 3). It was discovered he was actually from the U.K. and had been in the United States illegally for over a decade. In a statement from attorney Charles Kuck, his legal team revealed he’s had a pending U visa application for years.
In 2017, he reportedly reapplied for the U visa, which may have triggered the background check and ultimately led to his arrest.
21 is currently in “removal proceedings,” but his legal team vows to fight deportation.
