San Antonio, TX

Soulja Boy’s now infamous Breakfast Club interview is continuing to make indents in the culture.

Fresh off being lampooned on Saturday Night Live, up-and-coming San Antonio-based artist Colton Valentine went out of his way to seize the moment; painting a mural on the side of local Supremes Sports Bar that captured Soulja Boy’s incredulous reaction to the mere notion he wasn’t hotter than Drake.

Valentine even got Mr. Crank Dat’s nod of approval on social media.

“I’ve done work for the sports bar before,” Valentine tells the San Antonio Current. “I worked on another mural for them a few months ago. The owner called me a week ago and gave me free-range over the other side. I had just finished watching the hilarious interview and knew that I wanted to paint Soulja Boy’s face.”

Given the fact Soulja Boy’s interview is now sitting at 13 million views on YouTube (just three million shy of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Babe Ruth bat-pointing record holder), it didn’t take long for Valentine’s work to hit the viral circuit.

“The meme took off by the time I began the work,” said Valentine. “As soon as I finished it, the painting was reposted within hours, I guess it was right on time. The Shade Room, as well as a few other media spots reached out to me on Instagram and asked to repost it.”

According to Valentine, he’s only been seriously delving in his artistry for two years.

“Although I’ve only lived here four years, I love San Antonio. It’s dope to have such a warm welcome,” the Carson, CA native concluded.
