Drake found a loophole to disrupt his sports curse. After being blamed for Alabama’s loss in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship, Drizzy took precautions to avoid a repeat with the NFL’s AFC and NFC Championship Games on Sunday (January 20).

Champagne Papi went on Instagram and posted a picture of himself wearing a special shirt, which featured the logos of all four teams left in the NFL Playoffs.

“For everyone who believes in the Drake curse good luck tmrw,” he wrote on Saturday (January 19).

Drake has often been criticized for being a bandwagon sports fan, but the meme took on a new life as his support seemed to coincide with losses. Even ESPN acknowledged the curse when Drake wore an Alabama Crimson Tide hoodie ahead of the team’s championship game against the Clemson Tigers.

Clemson ultimately came out the victor, adding more credence to the superstition.

The Drake curse has gone beyond team sports too. Drizzy famously backed UFC fighter Conor McGregor prior to his lightweight title bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor lost in a lopsided fight, submitting in the fourth round at UFC 229 in October 2018.
