Anyone who’s a fan of electro knows about Egyptian Lover. The electro-Hip Hop pioneer is responsible for crafting some of the best b-boy/b-girl jams on the planet, including 1984’s “Egypt Egypt” and “What Is A D.J. If He Can’t Scratch.”
Over the weekend, the Uncle Jamm’s Army vet announced his next album — the appropriately titled 1985 — is dropping before 2018 wraps up.
“1985 Album is coming mid December,” he wrote on Facebook. “12” Beyond the Galaxy with DJ Qbert Coming Soon!”
1985 will serve as the follow-up to 1984, which Egyptian Lover released in 2015. It boasts features from fellow electro-Hip Hop legends Newcleus and Juan Atkins as well as QBert, Funk Master and Ozone Zarcon.

“Brian Ellis is my keyboard player and we’ve been working together for 10 years on these two albums,” Egyptian Lover tells HipHopDX. “1984 and 1985 are my favorite albums ever. I poured a lot of money into these two albums over $100,000 and I’m very satisfied with the outcome. I also remade a Wham song ‘Everything She Wants.’ This album is incredible.”
This year also marks the 35th anniversary of his imprint Egyptian Empire Records, which helped launch the careers of artists such as Rodney O & Joe Cooley. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
