Ja Rule announced that once his social media accounts grow to a million followers, he’ll be releasing a previously unheard track with Kehlani, “I’m dropping the record I did with Kehlani, sorry K can’t hold dope records lol..” he tweeted on Monday (October 8).
Fuck it when I get to a million followers on twitter or Instagram I’m dropping the record I did with @Kehlani sorry K can’t hold dope records lol… love ya!!! #iconn

Though Ja Rule is far from his target numbers, (he’s currently at just 217K followers on Twitter and 672k on Instagram), Kehlani didn’t take lightly to the announcement and rebutted it in a now-deleted Tweet.

Fans were eager to hear the collaboration and sounded off in response, citing Lil Wayne’s ThaCarter V‘s late arrival as an example that there’s no harm in publishing older records.

Kehlani re-iterated that as a creative, she’s touchy about her work.

Eventually, the throwback rapper diffused the situation by promising to hold off on releasing anything without Kehlani’s consent.
Hey @Kehlani I got nothing but love for you and your art… of course I would NEVER just release your record without you and your teams consent… love is love I don’t want no smoke lol…
