Ty Dolla $ign and his entourage were stopped by Atlanta police on Wednesday (September 5). After officers searched their vehicle and discovered marijuana, the platinum-selling artist was led away in handcuffs. Now, more details have emerged regarding his predicament.

Officer Stephanie R. Brown of the Atlanta Police Department tells HipHopDX, “Around 4:55 p.m. [local time] Tyrone William Griffin Jr. (Ty Dolla $ign) along with six others were stopped in the area of 810 Martin Luther King Jr. Preliminary information indicated that the smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle they were occupying.

“Officers searched the vehicle and located marijuana and cocaine. Officers are in the process of filing charges.”

Brown added, “At this time, it appears Griffin will be charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of cocaine. Once the charges are finalized, he will be transported to Fulton County Jail. The other six were released without charges.”

In a video obtained by TMZ, Ty stands off to the side while APD officers tear through what looks like a black Mercedes Sprinter. Meanwhile, a police dog continues barking incessantly as the search goes on.

A spokesperson for the APD said no charges have been filed as of now.

“Atlanta Police are still investigating, if charges are filed we will advise,” Officer Stephanie R. Brown told HipHopDX.

Over the weekend, the platinum-selling musician was in Philadelphia as part of JAY-Z’s Made In America festival.

He is expected to perform later tonight at the Cellairis Amphitheatre in Lakewood, Georgia alongside G-Eazy, Lil Uzi Vert, YBN Nahmir and Murda Beatz.
