Freeway has been in need of a kidney transplant since 2015. On Monday (June 18), longtime collaborator Beanie Sigel excitedly shared the news that Freeway got a call that a kidney was available.
Sadly, the good news was fleeting.
The Philly rapper set the record straight in an Instagram video he posted on Tuesday (June 19).
“I did get called for a kidney and they called me back probably a few hours after that and the kidney was not usable so no one got the kidney,” he said. “I was not able to get the kidney. The great thing is I’m starting to get calls for the kidney now so it feels great, it feels amazing and I appreciate all the prayers from everybody.”
He captioned the video with, “Thanks for all the Prayers Love & support!! #thinkfree.”
Freeway is prepping the release of Think Free, which is expected to arrive on June 22. The 13-track project features Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Faith Evans and more. A teaser of his collaboration with Lil Wayne, “Blood Pressure,” popped up online last month.
