Dr. Dre Might Release “Detox” After All

Dr. Dre has been working on the nearly mythical Detox album since 2002. In an episode of the HBO series The Defiant Ones, the Beats Electronics mastermind essentially deaded the possibility of it ever coming out. But that could change.

During a recent Golden State Warriors practice, Dre and his business partner Jimmy Iovine were spotted by ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

Haynes reportedly asked if Detox would ever see the light of day.

Dre replied, “I’m working on a couple songs right now. We’ll see.”

In 2014, producer Dewaun Parker said Dre scrapped the project in favor of another album, while the L.A. Weekly actually detailed the album’s storied history in 2015.

In the aforementioned The Defiant Ones episode, which aired last July, Dre said, “I never had any connection with [Detox], it didn’t work.”

He added, “I’m never gonna do that again.”

Several leaks from the project have surfaced over the years but only time will tell if the actual full length edition will become a reality.

      1. ??? so funny you said that because I started seeing Jay Electronica posting pics. First thing I said was F the pics , where the music bruh

      2. Immortal Techniques Middle Passage album should be on that list too lbvs cuz i been hearing about that record since 2004!

    2. After The Chronic 2001 Dr. Dre said he doesn’t want to do gangster music anymore

      Detox most likely some trash
He better keep it in the vault.
Same thing with Snoop, he stopped doing doing gangster music and his music turned to trash
If a artists is good at making Gangster rap music then should stick to what they are good at smh

If he ever drops a last album it has to be gangbanged the fuck out with people from The Chronic and 2001
RBX, King T, Kurupt, Daz, Devin the dude, Warren G, Lady of Rage, Kokane, knoc turnal, Hitman, Snoop Dog

    3. I’ll believe it when I see it. That said if it’s some Apple Music exclusive bullshit I ain’t checkin it. I thought Compton was aight but had a chance to listen to it only once due to fucking Apple Music shit. Whats a man sposed to do cop a cd in muthafuckin 2018???

      1. It’s called either download it for free or buy it. I have the Compton album on disc so what is the excuse

        1. I supported CD’s almost till the end but their time is up, it’s a cumbersome vintage format and I need my music on the go now.
I have Spotify already with no intentions to subscribe to another similar but possibly inferior service. If album’s not on there and they keep deleting all Youtube uploads with that music like obsessed autists then I’m not probably checking that shit. I’m not interested in pirating and there’s a limit to how much effort I’m willing to put in to check an album, even if Dre made it. Plenty of other good music out there if that’s how it needs to be.

    4. Those mfs on the site haven’t heard any detox snippets I think. Those beats go crazy, heaven and back! I will take anything that dre puts out.

          1. I’m just a fat guy who’s so fat I can’t bang your *BURP* can’t bang your fat mom doggystyle anymore and need her to ride me. Okay, chubs?

    5. What are you guys talking about!? Compton is a fucking masterpiece! Still can’t get over that album just like chronic 1 and 2.

    6. SMH! after that hot and cold mess of an album called Compton which I suspect he had a tone of writers for. Just gives us detox as a free download/collectors album and go do something else

    7. Has anyone bumped a single song from Compton since 2016? It managed to be both beautiful and boring. Only song I occasionally throw on from it is “For the Love of Money”

    8. Straight Outta Compton, Apple Music and Jimmy Iovine and contractual obligations to satisfy his new bosses, are the only reasons that Compton “a soundtrack” album actually came out. I’m suspect as to how he was producing all these records for years to come and we got a couple mediocre joints, including ones that were featured in commercials. I think he was the engineer and not actually creating the beats from scratch. You look at the instance of him wanting the Anderson Paak record with Dj Premier, which makes no sense in 2016…and realise that he’s no longer a master of this shit….we have launched him into the urban legend category with all these stories about his work ethic, and weird secretive traits but he no longer has the chops to prove it. Why does he feel the need to rest on the shoulders of new talent if he’s such a master at work?

    9. “We’ll see” is newsworthy? Come on DX. I really do wish he would release the song “Die Hard” though. It sounded way better than anything Em has done in the past 10 years.

    10. Only best album that Dre has which is a classic is the Chronic album. Chronic 2001 had a few good songs on it and that goes for Compton too. Dr Dre needs to focus on putting his artist out instead of putting his music out. The same also goes with Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and any other late 80s and 90s rappers. Let the yung’ns do their Thang and let them get their shine on.

    11. I don’t even want detox now. It is too late. Normally, a late album is so so at best. Well, this album is twenty years late. Dr.dre has been played out for a long time. He can still produce singles here and there but not a whole album. The last good album he produced was chronic 2001111111111. It is now 2018 not 2001 anymore.

    12. I’m fine on Detox…. but can we please please pretty fuckin please get this Dr Dre and Dipset joints from like 3 years ago.. maybe even 4. … I guerentee they’re bangers and won’t disappoint… praying to the hip hop goDs lol
