A Tribe Called Quest Releases New Phife Dawg Merch For His 47th Birthday

Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor would have turned 47 on Monday (November 20). In honor of the legendary A Tribe Called Quest MC, the remaining members of the New York group — Q-Tip, Jarobi White, Consequence and Ali Shaheed Mohammad — have teamed up with Sony Music’s The Thread Shop to release a limited edition run of Phife merch.

The capsule collection encompasses a neon color palette, and includes a safety green hoodie, white t-shirt with an image from the Low End Theory photo shoot and black trucker hat. Prices range from $35 to $90.

Phife’s March 2016 death has proven to be understandably tough on the rest of ATCQ. In August, they canceled their appearance at the Outside Lands Festival in San Fransisco California, explaining it was too emotionally trying.

Early Monday (November 20), Jarobi wrote an emotional Instagram tribute to his fallen brother to celebrate Phife’s birthday.

“I guess this day will be hard for me for the rest of my life,” he wrote. “I miss you bro. So much to talk about. AJ is like your height lol. Eagles are in first place. The Knicks look kinda decent lol To this day I don’t understand how you took everything that comes with all of this. It was pretty amazing to watch. Shit be driving me crazy LMAO. One more time I want to say thank you. Thank you for all the gifts you left me.”

    1. One love Phife. Very emotiknal read. Still hope they can make more music man and keep the torch burning whether solo or as a group.

        1. Read somewhere that Tip was tryin to pursue the band formation: could be with either Jarobi, Ali, Cons, Busta or all of em, or with somebody else, albeit with a new name says:
