“Devastated” Drake Working With Relief Groups Following Deadly Houston Floods

Although he’s currently overseas, Drake recently expressed his concern over the deadly flooding in Houston, Texas.

Earlier Monday (August 28), Drake shared a lengthy post on Instagram about the devastation taking place in his second home. He also revealed his plans to take action by working with relief groups to provide aid for those in need.

Drake added that DJ/producer/OVO member Future The Prince will also be lending a helping hand.

“We are currently overseas in London and all I can think about is how devastated I am as I look at images of the damage Hurricane Harvey has caused,” Drake wrote in the caption to a photo of the Lone Star State. “I am praying for the safety of all those affected. Houston has truly been a home to me over the last 8 years.

“Myself and @futuretheprince are working with local relief groups to aid and assist the people of Texas in anyway we can and in the most immediate way possible,” he added. “I also want to thank all the men and women of service and volunteers for their courageous efforts to help people in need. I encourage everyone to do what they can to assist the people of Texas knowing whatever effort you can make to help will go a long way.”

The rapper also shared emergency information for anyone in need of immediate assistance:

After Harvey made landfall on Friday (August 25), some areas in Houston reported as much as 20 inches of rain.

As of Monday (August 28), six people have died due to flooding in the city, with that number expected to rise. Additionally, thousands of residents have been displaced from their homes.

Weather reports for Houston are calling for more rain throughout the week and warning of flash floods.

      1. So if there were hating comments, you’d be like “Why did you comment if you don’t like Drake? Stop hating.” But since there aren’t, you’re wondering where they are? I truly don’t get some of you people.

        1. I truly don’t get some of you people either. Just like @moresickaMC said…………….ask yourself..what have YOU done to help? My point.. Bring your @$$ down here and walk through these waters then cuz. U @int doin $hit!

          1. Completely avoiding what I had to say, huh? You live down there, are YOU doing anything? Instead of hopping on DX worrying about where Drake haters are, maybe you should be helping your fellow Texans out.

    2. any1 can tweet.. its about offering financial support not tweeting help lines everybody already knows.. that’s a bitch move!!! Drake doesn’t stand for shit.. he has no voice for the communities esp black ones coz he can’t relate to the struggle!! plus he is gay n no longer no1.. #kingkunta

      1. Just because he didn’t shout to the whole world how much money he gave out like how everybody else was doing doesn’t necessarily mean he didn’t give shit.Dont jump into conclusions about something you do not have all data on.
