Fetty Wap was seriously injured last year after getting into a motorcyle crash. The Paterson, New Jersey rapper broke his leg in three places after colliding with an oncoming car while trying to pass another car.
In a recent interview with XXL, Fetty Wap explains what happened that day and says how he is thankful in spite of it all.
“I just feel like I hit the breaks too slow,” he says, “It happens. My way of looking at it was, everybody fall, but everybody not Fetty Wap, you know what I’m saying? And I kept going because I got my fans. People fall and hurt themselves way worse than I did so I’m blessed that I only broke my leg in three places rather than losing a leg. I think I can live with that.”
He says recovery is an ongoing process and he has denied traditional treatment for his own prescription for healing.

“Recently, I started walking on my own,” he says. “Even though I should’ve, I didn’t do the physical therapy. I wasn’t about it, at that time. When I go onstage, that’s my physical therapy.”
Despite the accident, Fetty Wap says he still rides motorcycles.
“I got my babies with me on the tour!” he says.
