While celebrating his 26th birthday, Compton, California rapper Tyga appeared on Power 106 Los Angeles for a brief interview. During his appearance, he was asked to share his thoughts on Billboard’s newly-released “10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time” list.

In regards to the list, he suggested that the list was dated and would have made more sense if it was released in 2005. He also named Drake, who he previously feuded with, and J. Cole as two artists who should receive their credit when it comes to such a list.

“My thing is I think that you can’t put Kendrick on there and not put—See, it’s different because it’s like I just feel like this is a lot of older people,” Tyga said. “So, it’d be like the greatest rappers of all time if this came out [in] 2005. You gotta give Drake his credit. You gotta give J. Cole credit. As far as new…It’s their magazine. And that’s their opinion. Another magazine [would] put out a different opinion.”

Tyga later spoke on an artist’s ability to really contribute to the genre. He named Jay Z, Kanye West, Birdman, and Lil Wayne as artists who have contributed to the game by putting other artists on.

“Jay Z, when you look back at it, he gave us A, B, and C. He gave us Kanye. Kanye gave us Common, Big Sean. Birdman gave us Wayne, Juvenile. Wayne gave y’all me, Drake, Nicki. And then so on. You know what I mean? So, it’s like who’s really contributing to the game when it’s all said and done,” the rapper said.
