Jimmy Winfrey, the alleged shooter who targeted Lil Wayne’s tour bus in April, is claiming he didn’t have a motive for trying to kill the rapper, TMZ reports.
An indictment named Birdman and Young Thug as conspiring to kill Lil Wayne. Winfrey admits that he is friends with the Atlanta rapper, but cited the fact that Thugger holds Wayne in high esteem as evidence that he would not try to kill him. Winfrey’s representatives use a football reference to make their point.
“Clearly, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons are rivals because they are fighting every year to win the same division: the NFC South,” the lawyers say. “Yet, this does not provide a motive for Drew Brees to kill or maim Matt Ryan.”
