Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 05/04/2014

Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic, Pharrell’s G  I  R  L and Future’s Honest remain at the top of the Rap & R&B portion of the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Meanwhile, Styles P and Bas enter the charts with their individual efforts. Styles breaks into the chart at #74 with The Phantom and The Ghost selling 4,331 copies and Bas enters the chart at #103 with 3,601 albums sold in its first week with his Last Winter effort.

Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic Arrives At #5

Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic is this week’s top Rap album on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The collection lands in the #5 spot overall this week, a drop from last week’s #3 placing. It experienced a 57 percent decrease in sales. The New Classic sold 22,525 copies in its second week, bringing its total sales number up to 74,917 units sold. The effort earned a 2.5 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. “In a now altogether too common meeting of marketing prowess and the expectations of a society in the throes of progression, Australian-born emcee Iggy Azalea’s debut album The New Classicis just that; a modern twist on mainstream marketing’s ideal of beauty and expectations from popular music,” HipHopDX said of the set. “Depending on perspective, Azalea unfortunately (or fortunately) follows in a long line of physically attractive blondes pushed to the stars by the music industry. In that being said instead of Azalea’s unique gifts as a lyricist being showcased, the album feels flat and uninspiring. This isn’t as much an enjoyable album as it is a brand marketing impact report highlighting percentages of target demographics reached.”

Recently, the rapper said she’s already looking into her next effort.

    Pharrell’s G  I  R  L Remains In Top 6

Pharrell’s G  I  R  L is the #6 album on the chart this week. In its ninth week of availability, the project sold 21,645 units, a 3 percent increase from last week’s sales total. The effort has sold 347,128 copies overall. Recently, Pharrell revealed news regarding “Happy,” this album’s most successful cut. In a recent interview, Pharrell acknowledged that he was not the first act set to perform the selection. “[Cee Lo] did it,” the Virginia producer-rapper said. “But…How do I say this diplomatically? The powers that be at the time did not see it fit for him. And there was a much bigger agenda for him. He had bigger fish to fry. He had an album to put out…He wanted to do it, but I think some folks on his team just felt that the priority should have been on his album at the time. And so they elected not to do that song, but with another one instead…He was one of the most gracious people about it. When it came out he congratulated me. When we got nominated he congratulated me. He’s a super standup guy…He sounded amazing on it. I mean, he burns my version.”

    Future’s Honest Drops To #7

Future’s Honest experienced a significant decrease in sales this week. In its second week, the effort dropped 63 percent in sales, knocking the project down from #2 to #7. This week, the effort sold 19,731 copies, which brings the Honest sales total to 73,083 units sold overall. In August 2013, Future spoke about the album after switching its title from Future Hendrix to Honest. “Honest is the new me,” Future said at the time. “It represents the truth I try to bring to my music…I plan to break the mold with this album so that it will be nothing like you’ve heard from me or any other artist out. You can either tell the truth or face the Future.”

      1. the don’t have any choice but to round them, soundscan can sue them for using there info so they have to round it off

    1. #6. Pharrell Williams G I R L 22,000 (347,000)
      #39. Rick Ross Mastermind 7,200 (328,000)

      Pharrell outsold Ricky. lol

      1. No dickriding Ross or 50 fan but can you dumb fucks please compare similar albums dayum.

And who in their right dayum mind thought Ross’s album was gonna out sale Pharrell’s album.

        Nigga are crazy these days

      2. Why WOULDN’T Pharrell outsell 50 Cent?? Pharrell’s shit is straight POP music, you fuckin moron. Happy??? That’s about as Pop as you can get. 50 Cent is not pop, jackass…

      3. “No dickriding Ross or 50 fan but can you dumb fucks please compare similar albums dayum”

you probably one of the ross stans that was laughing at p first week don’t try to tweist shit now motherfucker

      4. At the motherfucker that called me a motherfucker, I for one ain’t no stan. You don’t see me commenting on this site each wednesday laughing like a school girl over albums sales. Now I do laught at some of the jokes on here.

Plus I talk about the quality of an album, i could give a fuck how much it sale. Freddie Gibbs shit flopped but it’s quality music. You don’t see me laughing at it.

From your response you must be a 50 stan since i said it was stupid to compare sales of different style albums, be if Ross 50 Freddie Style P. You simp ass goggling another nigga’s dick ass niggas kill me

      5. Well, now i think about it. I’ll be a motherfucker, so go ahead and call me another motherfucker.

What’s funny, you never addressed me calling you a stan. So i stand corrected. You are a simp ass dick goggling nigga.

I get off at 4:30 so I can do this for three more hours dick goggler.

      6. WAIT WAIT WAIT..This clown ass clueless moron said that Freddie Gibbs FLOPPED. Ha! What a dipshit. First of all, that album is the epitome of an underground/real hip hop album. It was produced entirely by MADLIB, dog. That’s underground as you get. That shit sold 10k first week! That is in no way shape or form, even close to a flop for an independent album. Damn you’re stupid. And that’s just counting sales in the US. Underground hip hop has even more fans overseas! So I’m sure he sold at least another 5k worldwide! Read a fuckin book.

      7. I know Freddie Gibbs is indie and is getting indie money. Plus I knew his album wasn’t gonna blow the charts away pushing 300k-500k sold. But as known as Freddie is he still should have pushed way more units for as good as his music is(in my opinion)

I know fans are so very broke these days (they can’t spend 9-12 dollars on an album but buy $200 shoes) but being indie or major you still should have an ideal figure your album will sale.

I think since guys are indie people will give them the pass. But as I said I prefer quality over quantity just wish some of the better artists will sale more than some of these preschool rappers

    2. Another classic released from my client, Rick Ross, albeit slowly. It may not look it, but Maybach Music is slowly, but surely, rising to the top in terms of sales. Next week we will be shipping platinum sales of Mastermind.

      1. Sir, the accountant over at MMG headquarters has predicted that Mastermind’s sales will increase by a whopping 866% due to the unexpected arrival of 600 new Wingstop locations. Numbers don’t lie.

    3. HIPHOPDX, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?? I thought you were supposed to cover the TOP 200. Why is there no mention of the Army of the Pharaohs album? Why do you only show the numbers up until like the #36 position on the chart? Am I wrong, or did you use to show all of the hip hop acts on the Billboard 200?

      1. You’re wrong. They only show notable chart toppers. Like if an album that came out 15 years ago suddenly jumps back in the 200 it’s notable. First week and following sales of popular artists, major jumps in position, sales of someone recently in media.

      2. Mensa’s right. J Timberlake was always shown and now he’s not although he’s still in the top 40. He’s not hip hop and shouldn’t have been there in the first place so not mentioning his success any more was the best move. Drake is still in the top 50 and I’m sure Childish Gambino, K-Dot, and Jay-Z are in the top 100. Young Money’s album is probably also around 100 along with several others.

      3. I agree if you have the charts put all r&b/hiphop on there..and sorry Chuck,Justin is r&b you cant say he isn’t..id actually like to see more of whos in the top 200 and get an idea of what there final sales could be

      4. Your fuckin name is “Drake Runs Rap.” Regardless if you’re joking or not, you’re a complete faggot just for that. Oh, so underground rap isn’t good? Just kill yaself man. The day your Father had you, you slid out his asshole so fast. And when you landed on your head that did some damage. That is why you have become the wack, useless human being you are. On a side note, have a great day!

    4. looks like ross staling out on three hundred thou dam look what the rap fans did to styles p he shitting bricks no ones checking for styles anymore he better hope he can do a hundred thou

      1. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Willow Smith got more talent thatn phat boy Ross….Ross is on the decline. No worries…he can always be a C.O. again.

      1. The album came out 7 months ago tho. You gotta wait and see. And if that was a shot you threw at Em, your favorite rapper cant do his #s. [Even Jay with his BS Samsung deal]

      2. Its not really a surprise being that he released the cd in November so after the holidays it tailed off..I think if it was released in the summer say June/Juy it would ve sold a lot more like Recovery but still 2.1 million aint nothing to sneeze at..

    5. Record sales these days are atrocious. You would be better selling light bulbs on a freeway overpass.

      1. blame the internet….the mp3 file. a good number these days are 300,000 average but the artists who got it, expect it to go platinum, after months it is released.

      2. Explain country music sales then, they stay getting plaques. Wanna know why? Because they don’t stray from their genre, country music sounds like country music. Rap music tries to sound like everything but rap, at least the artists that get pushed down our throats never make straight up hip hop albums, people that would buy their music know they can’t rap so they don’t and they don’t know about other rappers that are actually good. Then there’s people that know about rappers that are actually good without the promo but those are people “in the know”.

      3. Consumers want everything free. They’ll download four mixtapes but won’t pay 9.99 – 12.99 for an album on bestbuy online

    6. $97/hr pavivdv by Google, I am making a good salary from home $5500-$7000/week , which is amazing, under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. 8. Rozay cant even go gold and Niggas say he is one of the hottest mcee hahahahahah time will always catch up with these fake ass rappers

    9. drake and rick ross are the only real hiphop albums. Everything else is pop garbage. 50 cent will flop mark my words in 2014 the rap game is run by ymcmb mmg. Everyone else is irrelevent

      1. Wrong again. Drake and Rick Ross are pop garbage and not real hip-hop. YMCMB and MMG don’t run anything.

      2. Oh, yeah. Because Hold On, We’re Going Home and Wu Tang Forever are such “real hip-hop” songs.

      3. MMG artists keep it real and aren’t crossover artists, unlike K dot and Jay Z. Jay Z crawls to MMG for relevance.

      4. MMG is the farthest thing from real and they are crossover artists. Jay Z doesn’t crawl to anyone for relevance, other artists, MMG included, crawl to him for relevance.

    10. Damn niggas need to get a life and stop hatin on Ross. Articles on this site that aint bout Ross and niggas still can’t keep Rozay name out they mouth. Ross aint gon give a shit what some broke ass niggas say on the internet. He got four classic albums, bars for days that only a few niggas can match and a restaurant empire not to mention cosigns from the biggest hip hop moguls in the game while you whiny ass bitches sit at yo moms house cryin bout another niggas albums. Get yo money up then talk niggas.

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    11. I thought future would of sold way more the that. Checkout thegrandreport(dot)com, they have some good hip hop and viral videos on there!

    12. That styles album is banging. He never really did big numbers apart from Gangster and a Gentleman (did like 800,000) my nigga stay on the grind getting indie money touring guest verses he was over here wit the lox doing a few big shows in London n Manchester that’s the way to grind these days The LOX realest crew ever

      1. Well over here these youngsters think low album sales mean the music suck. Dumb generation got it backwards. Just a bunch of trend hoppers

      2. People that think for themselves like the hardest albums, too bad there ain’t many of them.

      3. the weakminded buy into everything thats popular and shit on everything not popular cuz they arent familiar with it. people that think for themselves dont listen to artists just cuz everyone else is

    13. The only reason why that awful john elgend song, all of me went no. one was because rick ross’s collaboration gave buzz to him.

      1. Not true. Rick Ross had nothing to do with John’s success, dude can’t even get a #1 for himself, how can he help someone else do that? Also, All Of Me is a good song, not awful.

    14. John Legend must be paying radios to play his song. He and kayne west keep buying copies of that all of me single. That’s a shit song.

      1. OR people like the song so much that they keep buying it and requesting it on radio. Quit hating on John Legend. That song is dope.

      2. Lyrics are generic as fuck, Legend’s voice sounds awful and needs to stick to autotune, the piano ain’t real.

      3. The lyrics aren’t generic, Legend’s voice is good, he doesn’t need auto-tune, the piano is real.

      4. What’s wrong with an mmg song. Killer raps, dope use of technology, killer beats, everyone helps each other.

      5. MMG’s raps suck, the technology is fake, and the beats are generic. MMG songs are terrible.

      6. MMG raps don’t suck, you think you could do better.
The technology is real and the beats are terrific. We got DJ mustard being the next dr dre.

What is it about all of me that keeps people interested? Does Legend pay people to buy his shit?

      7. Their raps do suck. The technology is fake and the beats suck. Mustard will never be the next Dr. Dre with those trash, repetitive ratchet beats. People obviously like the song as it sounds different from the other shit that gets played on radio now. The fans keep buying it.

      8. At MMG, we rising while aftermath keeps falling. My homie, DJ mustard is having plenty of top 20 hits and even influenced nic nac to produce loyal, a top ten hit.

      9. You’re not involved with MMG and you don’t know Mustard, you’re a groupie sitting at home. MMG is falling, not rising and Aftermath is not falling at all. All of those songs Mustard and Nic Nac produced suck ass, no matter their chart positions.

    15. My babe, Iggy, just has 2 top 5 singles with fancy and problem. She’s lifiting charlie xcl and murdered ariana grande.

    16. My babe, Iggy, just has 2 top 5 singles with fancy and problem. She’s lifiting charlie xcl and murdered ariana grande.”

True, she could be the next Eve.

      1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

        Good jokes.

      2. It’s not a joke. Iggy is a rising star right now with fancy being no.4 and problem being 3 (almost no.1).

      3. Doesn’t matter what you think. The point is that these songs prove iggy is a rising star. She in the process lifted charlie xcl and that mariah carey ripoff ariana grande.

      4. Fancy was taken from Iggy’s album and used her star power to draw people in to problem.

      5. What star-power? That song being big had nothing to do with Problem being a hit. How come Iggy’s other singles flopped hard?

      6. With a move to a new record label, she got the attention she deserves. Problem was a hit because of Iggy. She lifted Ariana grande after her first singles bombed.

      7. 1. Iggy moving labels didn’t do anything.

        2. Problem was a hit not because of Iggy.

        3. Ariana Grande’s singles did not bomb.

      8. 1. Then why was problem a hit? Simple, because of Iggy.
        2. Yes they did bomb. Ariana had to keep buying albums just to put on a pose.

      9. 1. Nope. The song wasn’t a hit because of Iggy. It’s a hit because of everything NOT Iggy.
        2. No, they didn’t bomb. Ariana didn’t buy any of her albums.

    17. MMG is the farthest thing from real and they are crossover artists. Jay Z doesn’t crawl to anyone for relevance, other artists, MMG included, crawl to him for relevance.

Yet French Montana had another top 10 single with loyal. People are crawling to him and mmg.

      1. Again, Loyal is NOT French Montana’s song, it’s Chris Brown’s song. French and MMG are crawling to other people for hits and relevance, not the other way around.

      2. You forgot to say tyga was involved as well.

How are tyga and french falling off if they are in the top 10?

      3. French and Tyga are falling off because they can’t make hits by themselves, they relied on bigger names. They’re not in the Top 10.

      4. They’re not your homies, stanley. They’re just your favorite rappers and nothing more.

      5. No, you don’t. They never even met you. They don’t know you and they don’t care about you.

      6. Jay don’t crawl. He drives. If he’s so much bigger than Ross then why does he keep working with him?

    18. My babe, Iggy has 2 top 5 hits with fancy and problem. What’s with the doom and gloom?

      1. Yes they are. Iggy is a rising star. She came in on her own. After TI abused her, she got the fuck out and now she’s more successful than tip.

      2. No, they’re not good. She ain’t a rising star, just another hot-at-the-moment artist. TI never abused her and she’s not more successful than him.

    19. My client Rick Ross has recently announced the opening of 600 new Wingstop locations, and our accountant has predicted that next week, Mastermind will experience an 866% boost in sales, possibly reaching 2x platinum status.

      1. I actually have a magical mirror ross gave to me. In that world, Ross is the biggest selling artist.

      2. Don’t be mad because Rick Ross is by far the hottest lyricist in the game as of right now. 6 classic albums and still going strong! #bawse

      3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

        HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. You’re really bring up this bullshit again?

        1. Doing soundtracks is not selling out.

        2. Ross already did soundtracks along with tons of other rappers.

      2. Pharell was on the Frozen soundtrack and his single is 4X platinum now, Ross was on the Django soundtrack.

Nothing wrong with putting a song on a soundtrack as long as the movie is straight and not on no fuck shit.

      3. Also, the producers begged ross to use one of the songs he made. Pharrell sold out by doing songs specifically for dm2

      4. You know that ain’t true. Ross did a song specifically for that movie. Pharrell didn’t sell out at all, doing movie soundtracks is not selling out.

    20. It’s amazing how Drake has outsold his peers since his So Far Gone album came out. He’s doing numbers consistently and it’s because of his honesty. The young man is humble and simply makes good music.

      1. You’re sadly wrong, buddyHONESTY has nothing to do with anything. Drake is a singer/rapper who makes Pop music. Young kids and girls buy his albums. That’s why he sells a lot.

    21. “Record sales these days are atrocious. You would be better selling light bulbs on a freeway overpass.”

this is the only genre of music were artists intentionally drop Mictapes with album quality music or free, I know some people who stopped purchasing music years ago as soon as the discovered they could get the music for free in a matter of minutes online.

      1. mixtapes have ALWAYS been sold, wtf is YOU talking about? Ever since Flash, Busy Bee, Ron G, Kid Capri, Clue, Drama, Master P, 50, Diplomats, MANY, MANY MORE

it’s YOU F*CKBOYS who jumped in around the Recession when they were looking out with free joints and WISHED it was a commandment to the point y’all steal it with a passion now

and the greedy ass labels saw this and took that opportunity to renegotiate contracts and hold out until they see the results of this “free” music

    22. ‘nah he indie its all about the money he ok’

He still owes the label money. After everything gets divied up he’ll have peanuts.

    23. ‘That’s about as Pop as you can get. 50 Cent is not pop’

50 has done plenty of pop songs you fucking faggot.

      1. 50 is POP his singsongy hooks about Magic Sticks and Amusement Parks ruled the POP Charts, only a POP rapper would drop songs with Skylar Grey.

    24. I dont understand how Future is underperforming with the strength of his singles.

Rozay got that Thug Cry movie the jam of the week on MTV and just debuted it on 106 so Mastermind is still on the radar plus they filmed another movie for Shame on a Nigga that will drop at the end of the month.

    25. Cash Money was originally going to release the xscape album from michael jackson in cojunction with sony. Then, timbaland, mad that he can’t get an album out, had a tantrum, threatening to kill la reid if they didn’t give him producer rights.

      1. I was there troll. Wayne wanted to work with MJ but then he passed away. Cash Money wanted to release xscape but timbaland had a tantrum. As a result, timbaland shits on MJ with wack JT on that love is never the same single. It only debuted at the top 20 because timbaland was buying copies.

      2. Timbaland took a big shit on MJ’s work with his addition of wack JT on the love is never the same song. It only made top 20 because timbaland was buying copies.

      3. If Cash Money were to release Michael Jackson’s music, they’d make it terrible with generic beats and features from Young Money artists, Bieber, and that Bieber clone that they signed.

      4. “Timbaland took a big shit on MJ’s work with his addition of wack JT on the love is never the same song. It only made top 20 because timbaland was buying copies.”

All of that is also a lie.

      5. How is it a lie?

Cash Money would work closely with the estate and they would have final say. We planned to give them 90% of the profits, compared to sony’s measily 30%.

      6. Because none of that bullshit you spew is true, it’s all made up in your head. And who’s we? You’re not part of Cash Money.

      7. And yet you don’t offer any counterproof to back it up.

Love is never the same is only a top 20 hit because Timbaland put wack jt on it and bought copies. Quit defending a dead man.

      8. You didn’t even say anything of substance and you can’t prove anything you said. That song is a hit because the people went out there and bought it, not because Timbo bought copies. I’m not defending anyone, you’re being a moron. (also, JT ain’t wack, that’s Young Money)

TImbo buys copies of everything work he produces. He did it with JT, Jay Z, and now michael.

      1. That love is never the same song is shit. Michael Jackson sounds tired and there’s a reason why he shelved it. TImbo’s beats are shit.

      2. That song is good. Michael doesn’t even sound tired on that song. Timbo’s beats aren’t shit, DJ Mustard and Mike Will’s beats are shit.

      3. It’s a good song. It doesn’t even sound like a rip-off. It sounds like a Michael Jackson song should sound like.

      4. THere’s a reason why MJ wouldn’t release his song. He thought it was shit. Quit defending a dead guy you never knew.

      5. Or maybe Michael never had a chance to release the song due to him being dead. How am I defending anyone? You’re just hating on Timbo and Timberlake.

      6. It was made in the 80’s. Jackson didn’t like it and shelved it. Either way, its disrespectful to his legacy to release his shit without his permission.

Quit defending a couple of queers that don’t know you and don’t give a shit about you.

      7. No, it wasn’t. It was one of his more recent recordings. If he didn’t like it, he would’ve had it deleted. I don’t see the disrespect here. I’m not defending anyone, you’re just hating. It’s ironic you say quit defending queers that don’t know you when you constantly defend queers that don’t know you.

      8. Here’s an idea, dentalbitch: get off the computer, destroy it, go outside, head to a club, meet a hot woman, and fuck her. It’ll make you feel better doing something outside of trolling the internet.

      9. Wayne isn’t a queer. He only kisses his father, birdman. That’s father and son shit. I;ve seen it happen all the time.

Even if it was recent, its still disrespectful unless there’s proof michael wanted it released.

      10. Two men kissing, no matter their relationship, is gay, period. Locking lips ain’t father/son shit, you only see gay men kiss. Also, there’s no proof that he didn’t want his shit released.

    28. teeth boy trying to get 50 replies off of one comment, a sign of desperation

the site stats say y’all are falling off hard

    29. top 5 lyricist alive(not in order)
      1.starlito
      2.kendrick lamar
      3.fabolous
      4.nas
      5. hate to say it but The game

    30. RICKY ROZAY!!!!!
      #MASTERMIND

      50 CENT IS AN IDIOT!!!!!

NOW THAT I GOT UR MAGGOTS ATTENTION

YO U FOOLS GO CHECK OUT “ROOM TEST” PROD. BY JAZZY JEFF FT. DAYNE JORDAN-> THE TRUTH AND THE FUTURE OF HIP-HOP; YES HIP-HOP NOT ‘REAL HIP-HOP’ BCOS IF IT AINT HIP-HOP IT AINT HIP-HOP

    31. “only a POP rapper would drop songs with Skylar Grey”

And Alicia Keyes, Adam Levine, Robin Thicke, Jeremiah, R. Kelly.

      1. Nothing POP about R Kelly and the only thing POP about Robin Thicke is his skin color.
Jeremiah is straight up R&B and Alicia Keyes is rooted in R&B but can crossover to pop and
Adam Levine is straight up Pop/Rock.

50 had a pussy-cat doll on one of his albums and his biggest singles have been with
Justin Timberlake and Eminem, he wants to be on the pop charts sooooooo bad.

    32. “I dont understand how Future is underperforming with the strength of his singles.
Rozay got that Thug Cry movie the jam of the week on MTV and just debuted it on 106 so Mastermind is still on the radar plus they filmed another movie for Shame on a Nigga that will drop at the end of the month.”

I fucks with visuals heavy, film is one of my hobbies it’s a slept on side hustle, I’d advise upstarts to DL a pirate version of FCP and get a Cannon and get proficient. Every crew should have somebody skilled in photography and video, in this digital age it’s crucial to have as much media content as possible.
YG underperformed because the album is too inclusive and not diverse enough, plus it wasn’t promoted
Heavily enough, Ace Hood had a monster platinum single last year and only managed 50,000 total sales
so your singles don’t always translate to album sales success. Still a dope album worthy of purchase and
With the right visuals it can sell well into the summer and bubble under the surface.

    33. “MMG is the farthest thing from real and they are crossover artists. Jay Z doesn’t crawl to anyone for relevance, other artists, MMG included, crawl to him for relevance.”

Ross, Meek & Wale are doing it for the culture and the community, it makes me beam with pride to see three dark-skinned artists in this era of mullato metrosexuality who can do over 350K+ without forcing a white singer/rapper on their album to pander to the consumers.

Barbie Doll bitches with blonde hair, niggas riding skateboards, nerd-core, Hip-Pop, Hipster-Hop, Emo-rap,

We in the Iggy era my family, a pale zombie bitch from overseas outselling a brother like Future, the shit is crumbling, poor 2-Chainz ran to Fergie, poor Yo Gotti ran to Kendall Morgan, they got the sell outs putting
Mayonnaise on the meat instead of Bar B Que and Hot Sauce just because they want to appease the taste buds of these foreigners at the restaurant infiltrating with gentrification to the neighborhood

    34. The last phase of infiltration into the culture will be the white woman.
They already got the gay movement moving strong after Eminem made it fair-seeming.
Kardashians have infiltrated the game Kanye and Frenchie look at them Koons, Paris Hilton all up in Cash Money videos, Miley Cyrus a Hiphop mascot, A$AP Mob licking flat white asses in their videos.
Look at that Sambo Juicy J acting like a plantation buck, damn fool.
Where is the resistance against this onslaught? Where is the crew that will put their boot down and stay true to the essence!

      1. Conscious HipHop circles thought JY Electronica was the second coming of Rakim and his ass ran of with a Rothschild! LOL, I mean that shit is a Boondocks episode.now every label has a “token” and every album damn near has a token on it but now they want to push the white females on it. Kendrick and J Cole went that route and were rewarded handsomely, even Eminem got in on the action again.

T.I. should be ashamed of himself, he let Julia Greenwald use him to promote this agenda through B.O.B’s first album that laid the blueprint for this shit and now he has consigned this Iggy the albino.

Welp, now that the infiltration is complete Nicki Minaj can go back to her natural hair color instead of the piss blonde wig.

    35. Iggy Azelia solo album just outsold young money last album in one week by herself LMAO!!!!

Young Money aka Young Funny Flop of 2014

      1. begged to be on Ross worst selling album of his career not counting Triple Cs and the self made flops.

    36. I will say Mastermind sales are disappointing. Meek Mill’s going to outsell his boss. That’s pathetic.

      1. Mastermind sales are what Def Jam expected when they released it without a single in the Top 200, at 330,000 its the 9th best selling Rap CD for 2013-2014.
Sales suck, Pharrel dropped a pop album with a 4million selling single and he is only at 350,000 and him and Ross dropped together.

      2. how tha fuck would this 40 year old nerd who spends all day following mmg know what def jam expected… why does he continue to pretend like hes apart of the music industry when hes not…

    37. “I will say Mastermind sales are disappointing. Meek Mill’s going to outsell his boss. That’s pathetic.”

Rozay said he wants Meek and Wale to outsell him just like Dr Dre wants Eminem to outsell him, this is not G Unit where the boss tries to hold his artists back, this is MMG were the team wins together.

      1. fucking moron 50 said he wanted banks and them to be like kanye but they were lazy bums with no work ethic

      2. 50 never taught his underlings how to be Bosses, he taught them how to be workers. Everything about Banks and Yayo was G Unit because 50 didnt want them to establish their own brands.
How can you call Banks “lazy” when he has 14 Mixtapes and 3 studio albums compared to 50 having 10 Mixtapes and 4 studio albums? Banks lives in the studio and even Yayo dropped 16 Mixtapes.

      3. Then your credibility is shot when even your underlinks can outsell your ass. The boss is the one who is supposed to drop an album and clean up.

    38. EMINEM – The Marshall Mathers LP 2 : 2,081,000
DRAKE – Nothing Was The Same : 1,540,000
      JAY-Z – Magna Carta Holy Grail : 1,144,000
      J. COLE – Born Sinner : 683,000
      KANYE WEST – Yeezus : 656,000
      LIL’ WAYNE – I Am Not A Human Being II : 605,000
      A$AP ROCKY – Long. Live. A$AP : 468,000
      WALE – The Gifted : 357,000
      RICK ROSS – Mastermind : 320,000
      KID CUDI – Indicud : 271,000

      1. THANKS MAN FOR PUTTING THE BEST TOP SELLING ALBUMS OF 2013-2014 HERE ON HIP HOP DX I WAS WONDERING WERE EVERYBODY FROM LAST YEAR STOOD AS FAR AS SALES GO WISH HIP HOP DX WOULDN’T PICK ALL THE SUPER POPULAR ARTISTS THAT ARE SELLING TODAY AND JUST LEAVE OFF THE NOT AS POPULAR ONES OFF GOOD TO KNOW WERE EVERYBODY STANDS FOR FROM 2013 RRCORD SALES WOW MAN I’M JUST SURPISED THAT J.COLE STILL OUTSELLING KANYE HERE IN THE U.S AND TO THINK THE RIAA GAVE YEEZUS A PLATINUM CERTIFICATION FOR SHIPPING ONE MILLION COPIES WHEN 400K WILL NEVER BE SOLD ANYTIME SOON DAMN KANYE U SHOULD HAVE NEVER UNDERESTIMATED J.COLE JUST CAUSE HE WAS THE ROOKIE IT COSTED U MAN BORN SINNER WILL PROBABLY PEAK A 730K THOUGH WHILE YEEZUS JUST A LITTLE UNDER 700K BUT ANYWAY SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE TOP SELLING ARTIST OF 2013 EMINEM GOT IT LOCKED THOUGH FOR LAST YEAR HANDS DOWN HOPEFULLY THIS YEAR WILL BE ANOTHER BLOCK BUSTER SELLING IN 2014 I THINK MASTERMIND WILL REACH GOLD IN THREE MONTH AND WILL JUST HAVE TO SEE IF 50 CENTS ANIMAL AMBITION ALBUM WILL DO BIG ENOUGH NUMBERS TO GO PLATINUM BUT SO FAR 2014 SALES GOT NOTHING ON LAST YEARS LET SEE IF THESE ARTISTS CAN CHANGE THAT

    39. Rozay and Dream had a bonfied radio smash with “In Vein” but Dream ruined any chance of a visual to promote the song after he whooped that Vietnamese girls head.

Future needs to drop a visual for Never satisfied with Drake if he wants to recoup his album budget or drop a single with 3-Staacks for Benz Friendz.

YG need to do some remixes, some with Troy Ave, Fat Trel, LiL Reece, and Rich Homie Quan.

    40. “Mastermind sales are what Def Jam expected when they released it without a single in the Top 200, at 330,000 its the 9th best selling Rap CD for 2013-2014.”

350K at $10 apiece is 3.5 million gross, plus singles sales so if the budget was 2 million then the label is happy.

      Promotion
      Production
      Features
      Mixing/Masterring
      Packaging
      Distribution (Hard Copy)
      Misc.

iTunes gets their little cut but the label gets the lions share of the revenue. If you have a solid and structured team you can do a lot of the promo yourself especially if you have your own promotion staff, street teams
      E teams and video team.

      1. In 2014 I would go the Indie not no 360 deal but I would have folk that could play dual roles on the team. A tour manager who can A&R do photography and handle managerial dutues types.
