Saigon Says Kanye West Is One Of Music’s Best Composers

Brooklyn rapper Saigon recently doted on fellow artist Kanye West’s talents as both a rapper and producer during an interview, which was published by Vlad TV. Saigon referred to the G.O.O.D. Music emcee as “one of the best to ever do it” before commenting on ‘Ye’s skills as a composer.

“Kanye musically he’s one of the best to ever do it, man,” Saigon said. “Not just the lyrics, but I like the content of a lot of his stuff and the beats. And Kanye’s definitely one of the best musicians not just rappers, but I’d say composers and musicians ever in any genre of music.”

Saigon later revealed that Kanye used to send him beats all the time and even sent him the beat that would later become Game’s The Documentary record “Dreams” before the Compton rapper got his hands on it. Despite losing out on the record, the New York City wordsmith praised Game for creating a record that was “way better” than his.

“I actually had the ‘Dreams’ beat before Game…Kanye used to send me beats all the time,” he said. “And it’s funny I was just with Game recently and I told him the story. I’m like ‘Bro, I had that beat for like two months. And it took me [too] long to write to it.’ Next thing you know, when I was finally like, ‘Yo, ‘Ye I wrote this crazy shit to it.’ They hit me back like ‘Yo, Game took it. You took too long. You slept on that one.’ Game was like ‘Thank you, Saigon. You changed my life by not using that beat.’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And it’s funny because, honestly, I think he did more damage than I was. ‘Cause I was going in a whole [different] direction. His record came out way better than my record to that beat. So, it was meant to happen like that.”

Although Saigon missed out on the opportunity to use the beat to “Dreams,” he did recently recruit Kanye’s help in producing “It’s Alright,” a record that also features English songstress Marsha Ambrosius.

“Yeah, Kanye produced it and Just [Blaze] went in and made it bigger,” the rapper said. “So, Kanye produced it and Just co-produced it. And Kanye gave me a record. That’s why I love Kanye West. He gave me a record that he was gonna use on his own album. And he seen the direction of my album and he was like, ‘If you want it, you can take it.’ You know what I’m saying? And I loved the beat so much. Everybody loved the beat. And Marsha Ambrosius came. It’s a song called…’It’s Alright.'”

In addition to the announcement of an upcoming album titled The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 3: The Troubled Times Of Brian Carenard, Saigon has also announced that he is now the CEO of his own record label.

According to AllHipHop.com, Saigon’s new label serves as a partnership with the global digital media company, CPXi.

“I feel so blessed to be able to launch this label the way I have always wanted to see one launched,” read a statement from the rapper. “Working with a digital powerhouse like CPXi is the missing piece that will allow SIS to unlock the real talent that is struggling to be heard. SIS is what the future of a branded integrated music label will look like. In 10 years music will be all digital and 100% tech driven.”

    1. fucking moron… listen to Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus… Prince!!! The list goes on, classical, jazz, the best R&B like Stevie…

Saigon is a goddamn idiot, as usual.

      1. I just looked up the definition and its someone who writes music… kanye doesn’t write music he samples it

      2. Actually, he composes A LOT. And sampling and composing are not exclusive. Listen to the shit he puts on top of the samples, the string arrangements, the vocal arrangements etc. And even still most of 808s and Heartbreaks was sample free and a lot of the big records on MBDTF didn’t have samples (Monster, All of the Lights, Runaway etc.)

I swear people really don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

      1. You know NOTHING about Mozart– fuck “Amadeus,” entertaining as it is.

Or tell us what Kanye collaboration beat = any of adult Mozart’s operas, symphonies, string quartets, quintets, the Requiem, etc.

Don’t be like Saigon; get a library card, listen and read, you’ll learn A LOT.

    2. dogshit music for dogshit people; Saigon is dumber than dogshit who has ZERO idea who Mary Lou Williams is, Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, George Walker… all BLACK composers…

not to mention Oliver Nelson, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder…

Saigon should stick to pumping gas in New Jersey, thinking ain’t his strong point.
