50 Cent’s “Hold On” features lyrics which appear to reference James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond‘s son, James Rosemond Jr., allegedly being slapped by Tony Yayo in 2007.

“On the phone I heard Yay’ smacked the shit out a kid,” 50 Cent raps on the track. “Now Jimmy got life, we’ll smack him again / When it’s war, it will be war ’til the bitter end / If they ever say we lose, I’ll start it again / Let’s sneak the niggas, spray that semi at your momma crib / With a silencer, we couldn’t even hear the shit.”

James Rosemond Jr., Jimmy Henchman’s son, responded to this rap in a statement to AllHipHop yesterday (March 18).

First and foremost, when is it cool for four grown men in their 30′s to surround and hit a 14 year-old middle school kid? The incident in 2007 was a bad situation I didn’t deserve, and seven years later it’s now being made fun of in a record? What real gangster condones grown men assaulting a minor or a young man who has no involvement in the beef? Plus, these guys have kids of their own, and they should know better!

Secondly, who gets credit for trying to diss a man who is currently down and in no position to defend himself at this moment? It’s so easy to try to kick a man when he is down. What “real” street person applauds when a person is fighting against the same corrupt and prejudice system that has incarcerated a lot of black men? I guess that’s how some “gangster rappers” build their credibility… At the end of the day we are not catering to any negativity on our side and we have much bigger things to put our energy into.

Tony Yayo was arrested in March 2007 and charged with misdemeanor assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, a then 14-year-old Rosemond Jr. In 2008, Yayo’s lawyers moved to dismiss the assault case against the rapper after Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher confessed to the crime during an unrelated jail interview, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities said that Yayo actually tried to restrain Fletcher from harming Rosemond Jr. “Fletcher saw a young boy [Rosemond Jr.] wearing a Czar Entertainment T-shirt,” the report says. “Fletcher further stated that he slapped the boy across the face and began to grab the boy’s shirt. At this point Marvin Bernard [Yayo] exited the vehicle, tried to restrain him [Fletcher] and get him back in the vehicle.”

In 2012, Henchman and five others were charged with conspiring to kill FletcherOn March 8, it was reported thatJimmy Henchman’s murder for hire trial ended in a hung jury.

In February, 50 Cent made a post on Instagram that mocked Jimmy Henchman, who was on trial at the time.
