Big Boi Says There’s No Planned OutKast Album

OutKast made headlines in January, when they announced more than 40 festival dates set to take place in 2014, but that news is not a sign of an album to come from the duo, Big Boi says.

“No, we’re just doing the tour only just for the fans,” Big Boi says in an interview with REVOLT. “That’s all it is, a tour. I got a solo album I’m working on, but it’s just the OutKast 20-year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate for our fans, but there is no album in the works.”

While there isn’t a planned OutKast project, Big Boi says he is looking forward to his tour, a mixtape and his upcoming solo album.

“I’m working on it right now, trying to get it ready for the end of the year,” Big Boi says of his solo album. “Definitely the mixtape is coming…We also got Common and Wale and more surprise artist on the mixtape…It’s a Game of Thrones mixtape. I’m just apart of it. It should be out in the next couple of weeks. Catch the Throne. That’s where it’s at.”

    1. Sooo… no oukast, and this mixtape is only one song with big boi, not an actual bb mixtape. And the solo album is still a long while off. c/s the first comment.

      1. Naw. Just grew up and grew apart. It’s just life. Andre is eccentric and just pop up every now and then in a movie or collabing with certain artists. While Big Boi craves the spotlight and stay grindin with his music. The real life odd couple.

    2. Im pretty sure that its over for Outcast. The only thing they need to do is announce it to make it official. “For the fans” thats not saying that they miss making music together or the vibe of being on stage. “For the fans” read between the lines. Speakerboxx/Love Below was not an Outcast album. It was 2 solo projects thrown together under the name Outcast. Big Boi since then has released 2 more solo projects with no features from Andre and now he is on his 3rd solo project. Being a huge Outcast fan I follow both of these guys pretty close, they don’t even sound like a crew when they reference each other they sound worlds apart. Even if they did manage to get back into the studio I don’t think we would get anything close the the greatness we heard in the past. Outcast R.I.P.

    3. I hope the tour gets Andre 3000’s jitters going to get back in the stu for next year or somethin. after all these tour dates, these niggas are about to recognize the legacy they’re leavin behind.

      1. He’s a pussy because he doesn’t want to make music? They’ve already put out 5 classic albums, what more does he have to prove?

    4. Who knows they could still make more music…There was that song Royal Flush, the remix to Pink Matter, and 3 Stacks did the beat for Big Boi’s song You Aint No DJ and that song goes hard as fuck. Maybe not enough for an album tho…

    5. sucks they won’t be making another album anytime soon, but Southernplayalistic…,ATLiens, Aquemini, Stankonia, Speakerboxx/Love Below were all classics, which is more consistent that any other hip hop group not named The Roots.

The soundtrack to Idlewild, while not nearly as the same quality, was still pretty good and had some great songs on there.

      Maybe one day….

    6. Don’t forget the fact that Andre 3000’s father recently passed away, so I’m sure his heart won’t be too into making an album.
