Wale Explains Complex Rant, Blames Bias On Kid Cudi Beef

On Friday (December 13), Complex released an audio recording of Wale threatening its staff over exclusion from the publication’s list of the top 50 albums of 2013. In an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro and Peter Rosenberg, the Maybach Music Group-rapper explained that he believes the omission stemmed from a beef he had with Kid Cudi in 2010.

“I’m a bit of conspiracy theorist a little bit,” Wale said. “So, I believe that me and [Kid Cudi’s] fallout had something to do with a lack of support [from Complex].

“Me and Cudi was real cool,” he continued. “I used to live in SoHo and Cudi used to live right up there. We used to do a whole lot of stuff together. We performed when we were nobodies for the Michael Jordan Classic game, and I remember he was like, ‘Yo, I don’t wear Jordans. All I wear is Bapes,’ and we just bonded from that moment on.”

Friction between Wale and Kid Cudi became public after Wale mentioned Kid Cudi in his “Thank You Freestyle.” In an interview with Complex soon after, Cudi refered to Wale as “a simple-ass rapper.” Though the two eventually reconciled, Wale stated that the short lived beef was instigated by Complex and remains the primary reason why his album The Gifted was not included in the publication’s year end list.

“It’s another thing about being responsible,” Wale added before providing additional context around the conflict:

“You guys are claiming to be this man’s boy. I know he’s in a certain space right now and it’s almost like they were perpetuating some type of war. At this time, I’m just losing my first record deal, so I’m in an even worse place. I just remember [Complex saying], ‘Oh we don’t rock with you musically,’ and it went viral. And I remember being like, ‘Damn, you’re getting my friend to kick me when I’m down. Y’all are perpetuating it. Y’all are instigating it.’ It hurt on so many levels, mainly because it was someone that I considered a close friend. I just feel like that magazine, which he has five or six covers from, is perpetuating this and making it a thing—more than what it could be. Moving forward, they just kind of had this elitist, like, ‘We don’t like you,’ thing.”

Wale also stated that he’s received phone calls from people throughout the industry who told him that Complex has personal issues with him. He also said that Jay Z called him immediately after his tirade was released and explained that his ego validated Complex’s list.

“That’s the first thing Jay told me,” he said. “You just let your ego do it and now you just made that list important. Everybody brought it to me that day. Jay, Ty-Ty and Q-Tip called me. It’s like when you do something bad in school and you come home from suspension and everybody’s like, ‘Yo, what was you thinking?’”

When Peter Rosenberg offered that Wale should be excited that he was listed in Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse, Wale simply replied, “I don’t think everybody on that list is dope.”

Wale also speaks at length about the emotions felt by being excluded from the list. He apologizes to Juicy J and reinforces his commitment to his fans, as well. Watch the full interview below.

    1. What a moron. Cudi will forever shit on you. He’s more of an artist than you could ever aspire to be. Wack ass nigga.

    2. I used to live in SoHo and Cudi used to live right up there. We used to do a whole lot of stuff together.”

      Pause. No Homo.

    3. ” I remember he was like, Yo, I dont wear Jordans. All I wear is Bapes, and we just bonded from that moment on.

This is the kind of fuckboi we’re dealing with her. He bonds with niggas over hypebeast trash

    4. ” It hurt on so many levels, ”

Yo I can’t believe I’m reading these words come from a rap nigga talking about someones words and not something physical!

    5. He sound like he lost his voice from screaming too much! I bet he goes off hiding behind his phone all the time!

If anyone can listen to this clown speak for 23 minutes you deserve an award

    6. the worst part is Hov is absolutely right. his little trippin’ episode just made Complex’s list relevant. that’s how these niggas learn the hard way. shut yo ass up next time and do the work. if you don’t get on a list, work even harder on your next project to sound out the haters

now Complex might even ether this nigga with a response. take a loss Wale

      1. I guess to an artist it means something to be on an Internet list but to a fan like me those lists are garbage especially when Yeezus is at number one.

      2. I might browse XXLs year end list but when I see Danny Brown really high on a list I know what type of list it is.

    7. He blames complex for kid cudi telling them how he really felt!!!

drugs and alcohol make you say what you always wanted to but held your tongue to be nice!

wale really is a simple ass rapper

    8. I remember when a rapper felt a certain way about a magazine or someone in the media they would write some lyrics about it and put in a song… Now they make youtube videos and phones crying looking for pity from their fans!

    9. Wale said it was petty for Complex to release the call of him dissing juicy J LOLOL. I think it was petty of him to throw J under the bus.

    10. Wale went through a lot this year. His girlfriend, Tiara Thomas, broke up with him and left his label, his album didn’t do that well despite being acclaimed due to lack of promotion by Atlantic, and he’s getting ignored as terrible albums like GKMC get nominated.

      1. He was smashin on some Wyvclef & Lauryn shiz which is why Bad was such a natural hit, the chemistry. Wale said fugh it and put Ri Ri on the hook!

    11. gots to be mo careful, you threaten these white folks and they gonna tape that shit for the police and you end up fighting a case…..think nigga!

    12. I understand now why he went off on the nerd guy, kinda sketchy that they tried to blackmail him into an interview or else they would leek the threats for the police to hear.

      1. Would we have preferred to alert Wale to the fact that he was being recorded? Yes. But as anyone can tell by listening to the call, he hardly let Associate Editor Insanul Ahmed get a word in edgewise before issuing his threats and hanging up. And from the perspective of the streets, were we wrong to take the threat seriously? Ask DJ Vlad, who was severely beaten by Rick Rosss bodyguards at the 2008 Ozone Awards after posting a story questioning the head of MMGs street credentials. Vlad pressed charges and filed a $4 million lawsuit that was settled out of court.

    13. @CornSyrup In some states that shit is punishable by law, shit I done said way worse on some beef shit over the phone and never thought they could have been recording, let this be a lesson.

      1. As Complexs own Foster Kamer pointed out on Twitter, under New York State law either party on a phone call is allowed to record a conversation for their own purposes. In terms of journalistic ethics, Wale never said anything was off the record. He simply flipped on an editor and threatened to start knocking n****s out.

      2. Yeah it must be a NY thing Maino, 50Cent and Compex record their calls, where Im from only informants do that mess.

      3. The second a guy uses 50Cent as an example dudes want to get butthurt and go a tirade about CO’s. HaHa, please proceed Stanly.

      1. Homie you must be smoking bad dope, if a rapper wants publicity he can simply get arrested or fabricate some beef, you domt threaten a hippie journalist over the phone.

      2. oh yeah like when Ricky Rozay faked that shooting on his birthday! shit was mad fake not one shot hit the car! publicity stunt at its finest

    14. Theres a reason The Gifted wasn’t nominated for a single Grammy this year after his previous effort Ambition was…. think about it Whale

    15. I refuse to believe for one second that Jigga man called Whale about this shit. If thats true I lost some respect for Jay-Z for even knowing this happened….

      1. I seen them flix, now is the best time to drop some material while ya name is in folk mouth and all these end of the year lists get writ’. Cute little stunt to bring attention to their site but they got exposed for having shitty azz taste in music. My word.

      2. anything he puts out is going to be shitted on so hard

you saying complex got exposed for having shitty ass taste but Wale seems to really care what they think.. Wale a hypebeast ass nigga he probably follows Complex reiligously

      1. Threatening another man is faggotry to you? Gee whiz wonder how you would feel if a rapper made a gay rap song, kissed another man and wore a skirt in his video. Rappers out here taking pictures with Trannies but Kanye is a fagg? okay

    16. wait complex had rick ross and bird mans mix tape on the list and no ambition. lol. those white dudes up there be smoking crack, can’t wait for one of them to get knocked out like they did dj vlad.

      1. I dont wish harm on those white guys but they are the type of gumps that think Asap Rocky is some groundbreaking rapper and that Odd Future are genius.

      2. LOL DJ Vlad got paid and exposed Ross even more for being a fraud. I mean if you gonna have someone assaulted for questioning your street credentials theres probably something you’re trying to hide!!!

    17. You want the white recognition Wale then how about you use some white singers and producers or at least sample some white rock bands, give the white side a reason to like you, get your Daft Punk on!

      1. he actually tried that shit when he first came out with the hipster electronica / indie rock samples and his shit flopped!

    18. Wayne is a true blood gang member and I KNOW you fuckboys will say he isn’t.

Go to LA and ask Suge Knight that and hell slap the chap outta u for even questioning Waynes Blood Gang legitimacy.

      YMCMBloods!

      What up five!

Lil Wayne is the KIGN of HIP HOP!

      1. Not to bust ya bubble but anybody can join a gang as long as they get jumped in, get fucked in, get missioned in or buy your way in and the OGs from that specific Hood sanction it.
This is 2013 you dont have to grow up on Grape Street to be a Grape Street Crip, gangs are nationwide and love to expand so they can have drug turf and stash houses in multiple States.
I am only stating this so that you understand that a rich dude like Wayne can be in a gang even with skateboards and peircings in his lip.

    19. Ebro dropped the accurate Ether at the end of the video where he says that the E-haters and blog-geeks are worthless cockroaches who are a very small insignificant segment of the population, it only seems like its more of them because they are Catfish with multiple identities who dedicate their entire lloves to hatred for the rich and famous for absolutely no logical reason.

      Ebro for president.

      1. its funny cause BruthaDee is just as pathetic. a 40 year old groupie nigga who hates on white people and then gets mad when anyone hates on anything MMG

      2. “Ebro dropped the accurate Ether at the end of the video where he says that the E-haters and blog-geeks are worthless cockroaches who are a very small insignificant segment of the population, it only seems like its more of them because they are Catfish with multiple identities who dedicate their entire lloves to hatred for the rich and famous for absolutely no logical reason.”

^. Feelings will be caught by the weak, the sensitive and the homotional. LOL, nice drop.

      1. Danny Brown was one of MANY MANY rappers who dissed Whale on twitter a few years back… Rockie Fresh, Freddie Gibbs, Schoolboy Q, MGK, Domo Genesis, Tyler the Creator just a few of the rappers who think Wale sucks

      1. Yeah Complex is wack and I doubt Wale gives a fuck about their overall opinion he just hates his work being overlooked while obvious shitty stuff gets recognized.

      2. why would he want recognition from a wack magazine if he doesnt care about their opinion? its so obvious he cares a lot!

    20. Fuck Wally, he’s mad cornball and boring, how is anybody a fan of this guy? What appeal does he have? His swagger is even garbage.

      1. “HE’S LESS BORING THAN J COLE… BUT YEAH, HE’S STILL BORING.”

Wale won’t excite you with tales of crack, guns, and murder so you can close your eyes and live a ghetto hoodlum fantasy but if you like lyrics and metaphors he got you held down.

He caters to the clubs and the colleges, the wannabes and whites aint really felling him.

    21. Good discussion and very informative on the culture. Wale lyrically is up there with Kendrick but he gets overlooked a lot for no reason.

      1. D.C is always overlooked even though we have one of the highest concentration of Blacks per capita and a deep music scene. D.C. is more known for GoGo than HipHop but we been making moves recently. Wale doesnt haves gimmick, he aint light-skinned, he aint hipster and he doesn’t use a lot of cross marketing collaborations, so he kind of gets lost in the shuffle when it comes to critics but he always sells in the top 10.

      2. so BruthaDee is from D.C. now? LOL @ we

i swear this nicca pretends to be from Florida, Cali, DC, etc… LOL depending on whos dick hes on

      3. its because the DMV is full of hating secret aspiring rappers who all hate on each other for any reason. its also a mixing bowl of hipsters and hypebeasts who just want to look cool. DC gets overlooked because no one supports anyone here. Respect to Wale because hes had to claw his way outta this here. everybody comes for him for no reason. DMV is time to start supporting your artists like other regions of Earth do with their talent

P.S. we can’t all be rappers

    22. More rappers should just have one producer on albums to have a consistent sound to me. Wale and 9th Wonder Back to the Feature was a great mixtape, Blu and Exile, Drake and 40, etc. this is what people want to hear man, not a different beat with a producer tag catering to one type of thing

      1. You make an excellent point, some of my favorite projects have been ones where you have one producer and it just seems more cohesive. I think the labels prefer the multi producer mold because it generates different sounds that can reach different fan bases and sell more.

    23. The reason it’s not on this list is cause the album sucked I bought another Wale Album again, and again I was left disappointed. Instead of wylin out when some doesn’t give you the props you think you deserve prove it through your music use it as motivation not spaz out all the time. Your catalog so far Wale has not generated enough memorable material to garner the Legendary status you claim your owed.

    24. So this idiot gets mad at Complex for not adding him to the list, but hen says he doesn’t think everyone mentioned in Kendrick’s verse is a dope artist…Don’t complain you jackass

      1. I watched the whole video and all I came away with is that Wale is an over emotional sensitive ass conspiracy theorist who thinks he’s better than he actually is!

    25. Nigga you put fucking 2 Chainz and Nicki Minaj on your album in 2013… and you wonder why you got left off LOL

2012 called they want their features back

      1. Co sign he should have at least had 2-Chainz and Austin Timberlake like Juicy J did and then he could have made the list.

      1. Exactly! Thats part of his success in life, he had parents who actually put him in a position to win, and after that he went to a Historically Black college instead of one of their schools and the rest is history.

    26. If Wale was a real nigga he would have thrown his boy Officy Ricky and Birdman under the bus and not Juicy J… Theres no way in hell that “The H” mixtape by birdshit and offficer date rape should have been on any list this year except top 10 projects that belong in the trash!

    27. Whale might be a better rapper than a lot of the cats on the list this year like Migos and Asap Ferg but their albums were better despite lower sales!

There are good artists who make average music and average artists who make good music.

    28. Those dudes are critical darlings because they are so weird and nerdy and critics are mostly nerds so they can relate to them, they got Earl Sweatshirt with one of the highest critical ratings on the year.

      1. Are you a white child or just some disgusting dreg looking for some recognition? Bitches get sensitive when you use code words like “nerd” or “weird”, they get defensive over broad generalizations that they feel describe themselves.

The child in its lust to be recognized is talking about Wale instead of the points made about OFWgKTA.

      2. Lets keep it 1 hundo BruthaDee you fucking dirty old out of touch racist!

you never gave a fuck about Wale or his music until he signed to MMG amiright?

      3. I’m a 28 year old African male from SC and I would listen to a Tyler or Earl Sweatshirt album over a Wale album any day of the week.

      4. I’m not Bruthadee. Wale was fucking wack until he signed with MMG. He went from shit to dope like 0-60 mhp because MMG allowed him to do what he wants rather than interscope forcing him to do songs with lady gaga.

    29. WE THIS SHIT COMES ON I GO FUCKING HAM IN THE CLUB MANE

      THIS SHIT IS THUGGED OUT

Flowerbomb, let me guess your favorite fragrance

You ain’t rushing for love, and I ain’t up here to judge
Let’s neglect the what if’s and make it do what it does

She don’t wear make up by the boat load
Riding through lake shore with the nose up
She don’t really date much but it slows her up
She got haters, but we all do
Heard your winter time cold shawty fall through
Baby look at they approach, how they court you
All those minds games nevermind cause they all lose
In the physical sense I mean that
I ain’t tryna kiss up, suck up, feed gas
I ain’t like them nigga you sucking your teeth at, nope
Play big, trust me I’ll humble your mean ass, look

      More, shower, Lord, perm
      Done, love, nah
Called in the morning cell number wasn’t on, goddamn

    31. Olubowale Akintimehin and Ebro Darden…the definition of fuck niggas!!!

When the white jewish hip-hop nerd is the realest nigga in the room with you it might be time for a reality check boys!

    32. Wale my bro but you seriously losing fans over this shit. I cannot defend you anymore it’s always something with this fool. Embarrassment to my city.

    33. This fool just said he got a monumental Grammy snub like he really thinks that shit that got left everyones end of year lists was worthy of a Grammy!!!

Ranting like a girl every time you get snubbed is not gonna make the public feel you more . Just make the music and let it speak for itself. This further prove how MMG is becoming more irrelevant considering Wale they really only talented artist that has sold records.

    34. In Wales world all you have to do is tell magazines, radio and listeners that your album was the best and they should believe you, But unfortunately that isn’t how it works fuck boy.

    35. Sorry guys but Rosenberg just said in THE REALNESS that although he is a fan and listens to his music, wale is immature and everything he said in this interview with them was basically just him making up excuses for his hoe child like actions!

    36. Wale is a Grammy nominated Gold selling artist that just bought his parents a house and I am supposed to feel sorry he was not on some bullshit list when at have 100K of student loans left?? Wale is talented as fuck but he shouldnt give two shits about a list.

      1. He shouldnt care but he does because hes emotionally delicate and he got the personality of a 7 year old white kid from Bel Air namsayin.

      2. Keep riding his lil emotional dick I’m sure he’ll be so thankful he’ll pay off your student loans for you!

      3. Wale cares because this is how he makes his living but whats your excuse? Why do care that Wale cares? That makes you worse than him.

      4. could ask you the same thing. why do you care so much? Wale aint feeding you. he dont know you or care about you.

      5. If I care its because Im a fan and supporter of his music but you are neither a fan or a supporter so your input is frivolous and an expenditure of wasted energy which alludes to the fact that you are just a bored idiot lurking for a chat buddy.

      6. i’m a former fan who is disappointed in the path his career has taken in the last few years and cant understand how he can feel himself so much

i still play 100 miles and running sometimes i keep it on my old mp3 player

    37. Wale just earned a new fan. Any dude that loves his rhymes enough to offer up an ass whoopin to some nerd critics who left him off a list is worth a listen.

      1. So if Riff Raff or Lil B started threatening to knock niggas out for leaving them off their best off lists you would check them out too?

      2. So you’re a fan of someone because they threaten to beat up those who don’t share the same opinions and likes as them?

You sound like a fucking NAZI

      3. Wale just made a new fan, I thought he was soft but his personal convos to critics sounds nothing like his poems to the ladies.

    38. Put an emotional ass dude who thought he was the shit when he first got signed into this fake ass industry, you get Wale.

      1. He is no more emotional than you are but he is in the spotlight so his actions are under a microscope, you threw a tantrum when your Mom didnt buy you the newest Mario Cart game and you cried like a bitch at the end of Benjamin Budden, the only diff is that there were no cameras.

    39. I don’t know when it became cool for rappers to get all whiny and emotional like that. Back in the days, rappers played it cool for the camera. As long as they sold records, they didn’t care about petty, minor shit. 2pac used to spaz out, but it wasn’t all whiny/crying/complaining like Wale and Kanye have done. Pac used to spaz out for worthwhile causes that affected the community or his life….not a fucking internet top albums list. lol

    40. Wale is one of the few artists that got a second chance, most rappers dont get dropped from a major label and rebound to go Gold, I like his music and I support all DMV artists.

      1. Wale should have signed LoLa Monroe before she got knocked up and ruined her career, but them Ethi and Eritri chicks be funny towards Nigerians. I love this controversy shit, its funny seeing these bloggers call Wale “soft” because he checked some critic on the phone. LOL.

      2. we all know that midget nigga wale has never put hands on anyone and was just talking tough. he like 5’6″ and goes everywhere with bodyguards

    41. The fact that he’s looking for a magazine to credit him instead of Grammy recognition shows what kind of artist he is. A nerdy hybebeast geek nigga! Grammys are the championship rings and he can’t even make the playoffs.

    42. Wale is trying to make a Kanye-like outburst without the Kanye-like talent. Wale is just…there. Would anyone really notice if he wasn’t in the rap game? I know I wouldn’t.

    43. Back in the day rappers used to beat the shit out of these nerd-critics and the HipHop community didnt give a fuck and we sided with the artists be they right or wrong.

Now in this era of faggotry and nerd-power if an artist threatens a nerd-critic over the phone all the
blog-nerds side with the nerd-critic and attack the rappers for attacking the nerd-critic!

Everybody is so soft nowadays that they get sensitive when nerds get bullied….fuck em.

      1. You’re wrong about everything, BruthaDee. This guy’s threatening a magazine company because he didn’t make their list. That’s some bitch-made shit the hip-hop community frowns upon on.

      2. I don’t know when it became cool for rappers to get all whiny and emotional like young girls.

Back in the days, rappers played it cool for the camera. As long as they sold records, they didn’t care about petty, minor shit. 2pac used to spaz out, but it wasn’t all whiny/crying/complaining like Wale and Kanye have done. Pac used to spaz out for worthwhile causes that affected the community or his life….not a fucking internet top albums list. lol

    44. Nobody outside of DC gives a fuck about wale i spent money on his old albums and still havent listened to them all the way through i just liked pretty girls!. Aint nobody out there petitioning for him to be on a top 50 of anything. Somebody needs to tell him to just keep making more music til u get a hit that dont get played out in a week, I mean shit gucci man in jail more poppin than wale! emotionally distressed rappers my gawd! like we need a kevin hart sized version of kanye!

      1. Stop lying, Wale has sold out shows in every major city outside of DC, yeah he shitted on one of you guys over the phone but you acting more emotional than he was.

      2. Wale will never get to play a stadium or an arena unless he’s opening up for someone like Kendrick, Jay or Drake

      3. Wale been on tour with JayZ and just got off a nationwide tour with J. Cole, his last two albums sold in the Top 10 HipHop albums for the year they were released. We can pretend like he isnt relevant but that would make us look stupid.

      4. The odd fellow implied that Wale opened for J. cole, no it was a joint tour their was no headliner, I doubt Wale will ever sell out MSG but he does well enough to have a successful career and lucrative lifestyle.

    45. Wale may be a twisted genius, the enormous response from the blogs would elude that more people actually care about Wale and his rant than expected…..

      1. You dont have to buy the album as long as you devote your time and energy to Wale in some other way to show your interest.

      2. we making money for hiphopdx and complex by clicking on these articles and commenting, wale aint getting a cut of that

    46. I am a huge Wale fan and I love the passion he has for his music, I wish more rappers cared about their music instead of the diamonds in their chain.

      1. Having passion is one thing. Thinking you’re better than you actually are and threatening violence upon those who don’t agree with you is outright foolish!

      2. Dudes threaten violence against each other all the time in the rap game and people cheer for it but when its a critic the fellow online critics get emotional.

      3. You’re joking, right? There’s no justification for threatening people because they don’t have the same opinion as you. Threatening people is wrong, no matter who it is.

      4. Who gives a FUCK, go tell Maino not to threaten Trinidad James over dissing a fuckin city since its so fuckin horrible to you.

    47. If Wale wants true acceptance from this fringe element of E-society all he has to do is fabricate a fake beef with MMG and all these people that have irrational hatred for him will become fans overnight.

      Thus thee business.

    48. Imagine you were in high school or college and you tried out for the football/basketball team. If they post up who made the team and you didn’t make the cut do you really call up the coach and threaten to come and start knocking teachers out???

Thats not even some shit a 15 year old would pull!!

      1. Are you a retard? Since when did College athletes get told they are starting because it gets posted LMAO, this aint the movies kid, its obvious you are more nerd than jock.

      2. Yeah if you threatened some staff or faculty at a school you would most likely be expelled! It’s too bad Wale can’t be expelled from hip-hop.

    49. Seems like Complex has it out for MMG! They penned an article about how MMG has peaked and isn’t as hot anymore and Self Made 3 was also ignored from the top 50 albums list!

      1. Saying that MMG isnt as hot as they were is likee saying YMCMB, & Good Music are not as hot as they were, Wale still got a platinum plack and Rozay got a nom for a Grammy. Wale will get the awards he craves but not from the other side.

      2. Bro you know what a plaq is dont be a nitwit. Wale gets hate for no reason but Keef gets love for threatening to slap Lupe Fiasco, you hipocrites are more plastic than nicky minaj boobs.

      3. No one praised Keef for threatening Lupe. You gotta love how Wale stans make up shit to justify their idol’s sensitive behavior.

      4. “Wale gets hate for no reason”

No reason besides acting like a over sensitive woman and getting pissed off at people who don’t think he’s as great as he think he is.

      1. If you are not a Wale Stan then why are you on a Wale article typing his name? Dont you have an attractive woman to text message instead of discussing Wale with Stans?

    50. The issues with Complex and Wale go back years to his spat with Cudi and the magazines complicity in instigating the spat. Ebro said the realist shit I have ever heard in my life at the end of the vid.

      1. Not to be a grammar Nazi but “Realist” is not the correct word for that context and sentiment. I agree that what Ebro said was harsh truth but it will get lost in translation. Wale has to understand that the intense hatred that he gets from this tiny group of E-people does not represent a large group of people. Yes they seem like a legion of hate mongrels but its more like a dedicated few, but fiercely dedicated.

      1. wouldnt expect anything less. kind of like those ross cheerleaders who pretend to know anything about the street life

    51. Whale the type of dude who girls call up to tell all their man problems and shit. He probably been friend zoned so many times thats why he so mad all the time!

    52. I think it’s great that he has passion for what he does. Not many people can wake up in the morning and say they love what they do. I honestly believe he IS one of the best rappers out today who has a true sense of the art of hip hop and who does it for the art. But… Talib is also one of the best and gets very little commercial recognition. Conscious rappers today get very little love on the commercial level. Wale, keep making great music with great beats and your time will come. You still have a strong fan base! Who cares about people saying your sensitive…everybody is sensitive about something, even if they don’t want to openly admit it. That’s what makes us human. I love your music and love your passion more.
