Pusha T Says Rappers Are “Supposed To Be Arrogant”

Chicago rapper Kanye West has gradually gained notoriety due to his sporadic rants, but according to fellow G.O.O.D. Music emcee Pusha T, he isn’t bothered by West’s desire to express himself vocally. While speaking with Vlad TV, Pusha T revealed that he’s used to hearing Kanye speak in a passionate and adamant manner.

Pusha T even went on to state that West’s confidence is a quality he’s come to appreciate when it concerns his favorite Hip Hop acts.

“People gotta realize that I always hear him speak like that,” said Pusha. “He’s very adamant. Very passionate. Very sure of himself. And sure of the team and what we create and what our strengths are. And if he knows that then he’s gonna speak it like it’s the gospel. I mean, we rappers man. We supposed to be arrogant. We supposed to be sure of ourselves. We supposed to have that confidence. It doesn’t bother me any, personally. It’s what I appreciate in my favorite rap artists.”

Ironically, prior to West securing the mic at Pusha’s My Name Is My Name listening session in New York City, the Virginia rapster planned on holding a listening with very little commentary.

“I said when I got to the listening session, I wasn’t talking,” said the rapper. “I’mma just let the music go. So, when he asked me for a mic, I was like ‘Wow, where’s this about to go?’”

Pusha T also went on to give his take on the rant some felt was aimed at Canadian rapper-singer Drake. According to Pusha, he felt West’s “culture vulture”-centered rant was aimed at fashion, streetwear in particular.

“I took that as from a fashion play cause he was also mentioning like Pyrex and that’s also the whole streetwear, the Hood By Air…And he was speaking about me in that same sense of just like the whole streetwear culture,” Pusha said. “From the Clipse and the BAPE and the so on and so forth. I didn’t really direct that or take that directly at Drake. I took that as—I took that on some like fashion, what these guys are doing in fashion.”

During West’s three-minute long rant, which took place in September, the G.O.O.D. Music helmsman referenced the Clipse, “sellouts” and designer Virgil Abloh.

“All these niggas trying to extend their mothafuckin’ T-shirts, trying to throw numbers on the back of their shit, this mothafuckin’ Pusha T,” said West, while at the My Name Is My Name listening session. “‘I got a T-shirt line, ’cause I got numbers on the back of my shit.’ Fuck you. This DONDA. This Matt Williams. This Virgil Abloh. This Ferris Bueller. This is mothafuckin’ Pusha T. I’m done.”

    1. Kanye West is a moron, and so is Pusha if he thinks Kanye has his back. Those 1st week sales numbers were pathetic. Never trust an egomaniac who is going off the deep end. Didn’t Pusha pay attention to how 50 destroyed G Unit?

    2. I like Pusha T Music but thats bullshit if you good enough you dont have to brag or boost thats that girl shit we men in this rap shit

    3. Pusha T will ride for his dawgs.

We all knew that MNIMN wouldn’t sell a lot because this is 2013 and Pusha T is a street artist and hes not white/mullatto or puting white artists on his album to get extra sales.

Kanye has every right to be arrogant, he’s rich Black succesful and talented as fuck with a bad bitch.

    4. After that sales battle in 2007 only 10 rappers have gone Platinum:

      T.I
      JayZ
      Drake
      Emenim
      LiL Wayne
      Nicki Minaj
      Kanye West
      Souljah Boy
      Kendrick Lamar
      Mclemore & Ryan Lewis

      1. Sales are an indication of mainstream direction.

Soulja Boy had a huge single with a dance so people got caught up in the dance craze and supported the album…mostly kids and teens.

The sales dip started in 2005 and now the new platinum is Gold.
