Dame Dash Says He’s Proud Of Jay-Z & Kanye West

It’s been a few years since Roc-a-Fella Records co-founders Jay-Z and Dame Dash were on friendly terms, but it looks tensions may be starting to fade. Now, in a recent interview with Global Grind, the DD172 head remincisted on his past with the Brooklyn rapper.

Dame started off by praising both Hov and Kanye West and saying that he’s proud of their success. He explained that after all these years, he doesn’t bear any resentment or hard feelings for either emcee.

“Look at Jay-Z…look at Kanye – every success they’ve had I’m proud of,” he said. “Every time I see them on television, I know what I did. In life, there’s tragedies – everyone has them, so even through the tragedies, I was able to deal with [them] in a way that other people usually can’t…I have nothing but positive things to say about [Jay-Z].”

Dame also reflected on his time with the Roc and his role in the crew. He said that looking back, he has a lot if good memories from his decade-plus working alongside Jay-Z, but that he grown too old for the type of the lifestyle he was leading duirng that time.

“Back then, I was insecure. I was out [there] because I was worried about people knowing about what I was doing,” he said. “I wanted everybody to know what I was doing because no one knew what I was doing. A true business person is not meant to be in front of a camera, but Roc-A-Fella was us, and I was 20-something years old. But I evolved out of that, and again, it was a different business model…Hell no [I don’t miss those days]…but I know for the age I was, I was in my 20s, I know I was having a lot of fun.”

    2. Hiphopdx talk to your writter (Sean Ryan). It’s important he learns how to spell, and use proper english in writting. Kids read this horrible article and think its correct english. I’m definately not a complaining person; I enjoy this site. I’m just annoyed by seeing hip-hop written horribly.
      Thanx

    3. Dame Dash did what he was supposed to do as a label owner and put the talent out there in the sky, to shine bright. Haters can’t change the history.

    4. Good for him putting the B.S aside at his age, But damn he’s not aging well at all he looks alot older than Jay-z, Kind of looks like too-short in the still video image on the interview.
