Kid CuDi and Dot Da Genius are gearing up for the release of their collaborative release WZRD, which takes them out of the Hip Hop zone and into rock territory. Speaking with Red Bull, Cudders acknowledged that it might alienate some fans to turn his back on rap but that he’s doing the project to satisfy his experimental side.
“I just went ahead and just wanted to make some shit that was for me,” he said during an interview with Red Bull. “I think about the kids very little and think about what I want to make, more than anything. We were working and creating something, we think too much about the consumer and lose our way. And then we become machines and that’s not how it’s supposed to be, at least for me.”
He also touched on wanting a Grammy Award for his solo work, and how he thinks what he’s doing with Dot Da Genius is atypical for musicians in general.
“I think every artist wants a Grammy, no matter what they say. When they say Grammy, I think of Michael Jackson,” he said. “We are really doing something that nobody else is doing, and I can honestly sit here confident and say that, without being cocky or over-the-top.”
Fuck those fake ass fans then.they never were fans if they aint feelin this dope ass WZRD album.flat out.fuck em.
It’s not about “fuck em if they ain’t feelin’ it” – it’s fuck em if they write off his future work coz of it. They can not like it if they want but come back for MotM3.
no thats still corny of them
Nice!!

im waaaaaaaaaay older than 16 n im cuban.i
im a 30 year old Puerto Rican n i bump all his shit as well as my friends who are of the brown variety n are around the age of 30…sssooo uhhh….
im not 16 or under but im white & i loooooooooooooooove kid cudi!!:D
point is the Anonymous guys comment was an uneducated FAIL!
Im black, I live in the hood in Brooklyn, and I fucking love Cudi…welp *throws your argument out the window* But more white ppl prolly like Cudi than black tho. MAYBE
I agree…
Most of “KiD CuDi” fans probably are White or some other ethnicity from Black. As well as people who don’t really understand what [Rap] is as a whole. They just like sound and certain verbage-n-shit.
i just want the nigga to rap again
-_____- you a laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame if you think this WZRD lp isnt just as good as any of his rappin shit
thats what i like about kid cudi the most…. don’t give a shit he’s going to make music he wants to make… not just make music to keep fans happy… which usually leads to the artist’s down fall anyways.. though I heard some songs or snippets and ima going to be hit or miss on ever track probably more miss.. but I respect Cudder anyway
only some or real fans will respect what CuDi is trying to say. He is an artist let him do his music. He will have plenty time to rap again or always be the KiD CuDi we know. G.O.O.D. Music
this WZRD project is fuckin gorgeous!
fuck those fake ass DayNNite fans
shit is boring – can’t beileve i got so hyped for the leak 🙁
2 good songs. 2 above average songs. the rest are wack. SAVE US MAN ON THE MOON III.
As much as I want Cudi to rap again. I want him to explore his own musicality too. Fans should respect that he is saying this before the album comes out. Not drop some wack shit and you cop and get surprised. And he didn’t lose any fans that he already didn’t have. His real fans will stick around. By the way, this argument does not work well for most other artists.
I think about the kids very little and think about what I want to make, more than anything”
an inspiring quote……. go back to smokin herb and making good music, not hipster b.s.
some rap purists want him to rap again that bad, when honestly he wasn’t that great of a rapper, no dissin him tho he’s a hell of a musician and thats what he finna show to this world. I’m still lookin forward to his future work, but I dunno how I feel about WZRD yet
all I want is him to keep hookin up with rappers, he has a great sound with most beats in his guest appearances
Damn. Well I guess every dope artist needs at least ONE experimented album that’s hella wack: Nas had Nastradumus, Lupe had Lasers, Jay Z had The Blueprint 2, Lil Wayne had the rock album. it’s only natural. It’s a step towards greatness. You got to experiment and grow…
The Blueprint 2?!? What are you stupid?
i WOULD SAY VOLUME 1 B4 BLUEPRINT 2, ANYONE REMEMBER THE WACK VIDEO FOR SUNSHINE, NOW THAT WAS EXPERIMENTAL
Im not hating, I just miss the days of “A Kid named Cudi”. His sound is so different now its crazy. I mean Man on the Moon II was the most dissapointing albulm I had have heard short of Lasers, and i can atleast blame Lasers on the record company. I’m fine with Cudi exploring, but thats what mixtapes are for, not albulms
ARE YOU AN IDIOT????
“L.A.S.E.R.S” was VERY GOOD!
You must’ve not been “L i s t e n i n g” to the Album, but instead was just “Hearing” it* oR you just couldn’t comprehend it.
I listened to Lasers front to back, and I will have to say I completely disagree with your comment. That album was nowhere near the caliber of work Lupe Fiasco is known for, i.e. “Food & Liquor” or “The Cool”. Those two albums, in my opinion, are classic. Specifically the former. L.A.S.E.R.S. was the most pop Lupe Fiasco song I have ever heard. Even FOTP was better, and that had dubstep beats. You can try and argue how great it is, but any true Lupe fan would disagree with that statement you just made. It’s not terrible, the lyrics were okay, but it definitely wasn’t “VERY GOOD” as you so put.
album* rather, sorry.
I don’t hate Lasers that much, but I agree in every sense of the word F&L and The Cool were better.
but on the OP’s comment, MOTMII wasn’t THAT bad.. damn. I mean yeah, there’s a lot less classic tracks than on MOTMI(and even Kid Named Cudi) but it was still a good effort.

Taking chances is what real artist do
Why do rappers have to produce the same lazy pop shit, album after album? Most mainstream hip hop is boring, seriously I don’t wanna hear about how Drake wet the bed in that silly sing song voice (R Kelly called, he want’s his “best RnB “93” award back). I don’t wanna hear Lil Wayne still acting like an 18 year old, damn the man’s near 30, just needs to let his balls drop and man up a little.
Cudders has a bit of darkness in his music, I’ve heard the WZRD album and it ain’t that experimental, it continues on from that gloomy weed vibe of Man on the Moon. There’s no Eurodance/David Guetta crap, no panty wetting music for hoe’s
It’s not hip-hop, but it also doesn’t make it “white” music, Jimmy Hendrix was doing this when my granddad was in his youth
Personally I appreciate the “WZRD” album Cudi put out.Its all I’ve been listening to since I brought it yesterday. At first I was a little hesitant about even purchasing the album and I’m a die hard fan. But I gave it a chance and listened to it and the first time I wasn’t that into it but after a repeat of the whole album I felt like a kid in the candy store. Many folks don’t appreciate good music. With the “WZRD” album I feel as if I can get lost in the song without engaging in any substances. I like to bump this in my car as I drive on the interstate. I like the album and I kind of hope he considers putting out another album like this. For those of you who got a lot of shit on your breath about this album can suck my ding dong with no hands, and suck on my mother cocker hole with a capri sun straw.
