The Black Keys Say “BlakRoc 2” Is Not Coming Out

The Black Keys are teaming back up with Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash for BlakRoc 2, the sequel to the group’s 2009 release.

Though a release date is yet to be announced, a promotional video for the album has been released, revealing a lineup that includes Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica, O.C., Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, U-God, Jim Jones, Sean Price and The Cool Kids.

Check out a trailer for the album below (via PrefixMag).

UPDATE: Despite a trailer hitting the Internet earlier this month, The Black Keys have quashed any notion that BlakRoc 2 will be released. During an interview with WZGC 92.9 FM (via Consequence of Sound), Keys’ Patrick Carney denied that the album will see the light of day anytime soon.

Blakroc 2 is not coming out soon, although somehow a trailer that was made two years ago without our permission and then recirculated without our permission,” he said. ”We have stuff recorded for it — about eight songs that I guess are done — but those were all recorded two years ago. So there are no plans for Blakroc 2 to be released as an album.”

    1. Can’t fuckin wait!!! the first blakroc album was the dopest and most slept on album to come out in 2009, i still bump it.

      1. If you don’t know O.C. from DITC you fail hard. Go listen to Word…Life, one of the most slept on albums by one of the most slept on rappers of the 90s.

      2. If youe saw Eight Mile you have heard his music. The one beat you constantly heard them freestyle on was OC, called “Times Up”. “Jewelz” was his best album imo..

    2. This sucks, the first project was great..it brought the best out in some of those artists who were involved like Jim Jones..I don’t think I have heard from NOE since that album…..the hang up is probably money, Dame Dash is in big trouble financially..just a guess on my part.
