KRS-One & Bumpy Knuckles Team For “Royalty Check” LP

KRS-One and Bumpy Knuckles are taking it back to the essence. The hip-hop veterans are teaming up for the collaboration album Royalty Check, releasing on May 31st via Canada-based 682 Records.

The politically-minded LP is described as combining the “classic boom-bap sound with rock elements through the use of live instruments and edgy drum patterns.” The duo decided to join forces after the opportunity presented itself for them to get into the studio one another, following up on previous collaborations including “Ruff, Ruff” and the classic posse cut “Heal Yourself.”

Knuckles, who also goes by Freddie Foxxx, revealed the album to HipHopDX in 2008. “I just did an album with KRS-One called Royalty Check. Me and him are going back-to-back on 15 tracks,” said Foxxx, who also revealed that he was actively working with KRS on a new Stop The Violence album.

To warm up fans for the joint album, Knuckles has released his mixtape Leaks Vol. 1 with DJ Chanin.
