Ice Spice Confirms New Single Is About Latto, Explains Why

Ice Spice has made it clear that she isn’t on good terms with Latto, and that her most recent single is aimed at her peer.

The Bronx rap star released “Think U The Shit (Fart)” last month, which has bars many perceived to be a reference to her adversary’s “Put It On Da Floor.” Over a pounding, video game-inspired beat from RIOTUSA, Synthetic and Venny, she raps: “I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up/ She all on the floor, told her get up.”

During a Twitter Spaces appearance on Friday (February 2), the “Much” hitmaker confirmed the song’s target, and cited the reason.

She recalled noticing her music video playing in the background of a short clip posted by the Atlanta rapper, and taking offense to that.

“Seeing that I’m in the back of your weak-ass snippet,” she said. “So I was like, ‘Wait a second — that’s me?’ So I’m like, ‘Okay, since we’re talking about me, let’s talk about me,’ and I dropped that.

“I was like, ‘This has to be fake — this is AI,’ but bitches be bold, so I was like, ‘Alright, we’re being bold today.’”

It is worth noting that Latto recently sided with Megan Thee Stallion in her ongoing beef against Nicki Minaj, with whom Ice Spice teamed up with on “Barbie World” in 2023. Furthermore, the New York City rising star also recently took aim at her female contemporaries in the industry during an interview with Variety.

“It is a competition at the end of the day,” Ice Spice said. “People want to be all, ‘I’m a girl’s girl,’ but then behind the scenes being bitches. Basically, we here, the girls, are doing amazing. I’m excited to see it.

“I feel like the competition is what keeps us all excited because I think we all secretly enjoy competing and seeing who put that shit on better and who’s gon’ get the most views. I can be transparent, and I know the competition is checking on me too, which is why it’s OK to say that.”

It is believed Ice Spice and Latto’s issues stem from copycat accusations levied against the latter after she was seen striking a pose similar to Spice’s signature bent-over move.

“Every time y’all accuse me of copying folks ima clear it up. Nun mo nun less,” Latto responded to the claims on Twitter last year. “I don’t like how y’all take my tweets & make them fit ur weak ass narratives.”
