Kid Cudi‘s House Party co-stars have praised the rapper not only for how seriously he took his latest role, but for his “impeccable” comedic timing.
Speaking to HipHopDX, the new movie’s stars Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole had nothing but great things to say about the Cleveland rapper, who appears in the reboot of the 199o classic as himself. Although, both actors did concede that, despite previous acting roles, Kid Cudi appeared a little uncertain of himself when he began filming for the comedy.

“Cudi was incredible,” said Jacob Latimore. ” We made him feel more comfortable too. It was a little nerve racking for him, but when you get those laughs after your lines you start feeling good about what you’re doing. Literally the first time we started filming we were just dying laughing.”
“He was so much fun to work with,” Tosin Cole added. “He took it so serious but he was fun to work with. He made great choices, his comic timing was impeccable. I don’t think people have seen him in this light. There was time he was doing his takes and I’d be like ‘That boy good.'”

According the new House Party‘s synopsis, the “remix’ of Kid-N-Play’s first movie sees Latimore and Cole as Kevin and Damon, aspiring club promoters trying to figure out how make a big money play to avoid the consequences of losing their jobs as house cleaners.
The best friends decide to throw an unauthorized party at the location of their last cleaning job: the fictional home of LeBron James. As they try to pull off their scheme, Damon and Kevin are faced with a number of challenges, including an angry koala, a time-travelling DJ, a stolen championship ring and an out-of-control guest list.

In addition to Cudi and LeBron, several other famous faces appear in House Party as themselves, including Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Tinashe and the stars of the original film, Kid-N-Play.
Kid Cudi landed his first major acting role as one of the main cast members on HBO’s short lived series How To Make It InAmerica in 2010. After appearing in a handful of independent films, Cudi made his feature film debut in 2014’s Need For Speed. In all, he has appeared in a total of 35 scripted productions, not including eight cameos as himself.
The Cleveland artist most recently starred in his own Netflix animated series Entergalactic as the voice of main character Jabari. He co-created and co-executive produced the show with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.
In December, he was honored with the Groundbreaker Award for his performance in the project at the fifth annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television award show in Los Angeles.

Cudi’s success on screen may not bode well for fans of his music, however. While speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in September, Cudi suggested the Entergalactic album would be his last.
“The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that,” he said. “I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi. The goal for Entergalactic, I was bored of making albums. Just, doing an album, two music videos and that’s it. And I was like, ‘Man, I went into this wanting to do something epic and different.’ And now, that I’ve done that, I just… I’ve made a lot of music, man.”

Two months later, after Kid Cudi said he’ll be releasing at least one more album before closing the curtain on his music career; he tweeted that he was no longer interested in creating new music.
“I’ll be happy when I stop makin albums so I dont have to deal w this madness anymore,” Kid Cudi wrote. It is not quite clear what exactly Cudi meant by “this madness” is not quite clear.
