Hit-Boy has released his new album Surf or Drown featuring Nas, Curren$y and more — check it out below.
Released on Friday (March 24), the project also includes appearances from Dom Kennedy, The Alchemist, James Fauntleroy, Jay 305, Avelino, Devin Morrison and others.

Having made a name for himself producing hits for some of the biggest names in Hip Hop including JAY-Z, Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and more recently Nas, the 11-track album finds Hit-Boy stepping into the booth and showcasing his own rapping skills.
The project also includes an instrumental version of each track, with the multi-platinum producer encouraging other artists to record their own songs and send them to him.

Behind the boards, Hit-Boy produced Surf or Drown largely by himself, with help from The Alchemist, G-Ry, Corbett, Peter Lee Johnson and Jesse Blum.

Surf or Drown serves as Hit-Boy’s second project of the year following his Victims & Villains collaboration with R&B legend Musiq Soulchild.
The Inland Empire native only announced the album earlier this month during an interview with Home Grown Media Group.

“I’m literally dropping a whole album next week with me rapping,” he said at the time. “I got features on it. It’s produced by me and a couple of the homies did some little pieces, but it’s a real good body of just what I’m on right now … It’s gonna be like 11 joints.”
Hit-Boy also spoke to TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson about Surf or Drown in a Twitter Spaces conversation.
“Some of the vibes on there I feel like people are gonna rock with,” he said. “It’s not all soul chops and shit; it’s modern sounds, it’s everything. It’s a world to come into.
“In different interviews and stuff I’ve been doing, I’ve been talking about how I went through some real stuff and I had to really figure out my place back in the game and just understand my personal power in this shit.”

He added: “I could’ve drowned in this shit, so it’s like, Surf or Drown. You already know, Surf Club, that shit go way back.”
Elsewhere, Hit-Boy is reportedly uniting with Nas once again for King’s Disease 4, with 50 Cent set to be featured on the project. The pair have collaborated on four albums since 2020: King’s Disease, King’s Disease II, Magic and King’s Disease III.
