Hip Hop Single Sales: G-Eazy, The Weeknd & Alessia Cara

    This week on the R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” slips to #4 following a 31% decrease in sales. Elsewhere, G-Eazy’s “Me, Myself & I” takes the top spot and lastly, Ginuwine’s 1996 debut single “Pony” comes in at #10 following a 107% increase in sales.

    G-Eazy Jumps To #1

    G-Eazy’s “Me, Myself & I” lands at #1 this week making the Oakland, California rapper just the second artist since October to occupy the top spot. The single, which features on the rapper’s sophomore studio album When It’s Dark Out, sold 53,382 units during the seven days leading to January 14.

    The Weeknd Comes In At #2 For “In The Night”

    Despite a 15% decrease in sales, The Weeknd’s “In The Night” jumped to #2 this week. The cut, which is the fourth single off the singer’s Beauty Behind The Madness album, sold 41,497 units during the seven days leading to January 14.

    Alessia Cara’s “Here” Holds #3 Spot

    Similar to that of The Weeknd, Alessia Cara’s “Here” experienced a jump in chart position this week despite suffering a 24% decrease in sales. The single moved 40,367 units during the seven days leading to January 14, taking its total sales since its official release to 1,005,293 copies.

      1. I’m really wondering the same, although it IS a classic. Just the instrumental alone is enough to be on any classic R&B list.. Timbo truly put his foot in that one. (Ginuwine too.)

      2. Ahhhhhh I just realized why it’s on the list!! It’s from Channing Tatum’s & his wife Jenna’s “Lip Sync Battle” performance not too long ago, when she danced to “Pony”… Jenna was performing HIS scene from Magic Mike when he does his solo performance. Lol ok it all comes together now.. Look it up, it’s on YouTube. Quite entertaining.
