Hip Hop Single Sales: Drake, The Weeknd & Macklemore

    There are a few changes to the R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart this week yet the artists occupying the coveted Top 3 spots, Drake, The Weeknd and Macklemore, remains the same. Elsewhere, Alessia Cara’s single “Here” jumps from #6 to #5 due to a 16% increase in sales and lastly, Post Malone’s summer hit “White Iverson” lands at #10 after 26 weeks on the chart.

    Drake Remains At #1

    For a second consecutive week, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” lands at the top of the chart selling 154,110 units during the seven days leading to October 29. The single, which premiered on Drizzy’s OVO Sound Radio back in July, has now sold 1,111,124 copies since its official release.

    The Weeknd’s “The Hills” Reaches 2 Million Sales

    After dominating the top spot for many weeks throughout both September and October, The Weeknd’s single “The Hills” now finds itself slowing down in terms of sales. The cut suffered a 41% decrease in retail performance last week and this week, its sales dropped a further 22%, meaning it sold 86,042 units during the seven days leading to October 29. Nevertheless, the single’s most recent set of sales brings its total since its official release to 2,071,429 units.

    Macklemore Stays Rooted At #3

    For a fourth successive week now, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown” finds itself landing at #3 on the R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart. During the seven days leading to October 29, “Downtown” sold 67,405 units, taking its total sales since its official release to 673,419.
