With several big debuts this week, let’s start with T-Pain, coming in at #1 with Epiphany, selling only 171k in its first
week after the smash hit of the summer “Buy You a Drank.” Also debuting this
week is Rihanna,coming in at #2
with Good Girl Gone Bad only selling
162k in its first week (must be a bad week to buy albums). R. Kelly’s Double Up goes
gold in its second week, selling 120k (508k overall). After two weeks in the
top 10, U.S.D.A.’s Cold Summer drops from #7 to #26,
selling 27k, bringing the group’s total to 172k.
R-Kelly isn’t the
only singer to go gold this week, as Ne-Yo’s
Because of You manages to do it in
its 6th. The album sold 36k this week (513k overall). It looks like
the loyalty of the fans is waning, as Bone
Thugs-N-Harmony’s Strength and
Loyalty drops 12 spots to #29, with 24k on the week (262k overall). Akon receives a similar treatment, as Konvicted drops from #21 to #30, with
24k units moved this week (2.4 million overall).
Lil’ Wyte’s One and Only debuted this week at #46,
with 15k sold. One spot below is Corinne
Bailey Rae’s self-titled album, which is one week shy of having spent an
entire year on the top 200. Ms. Rae
sells 14k this week bringing her total to 1.5 million. Bobby Valentino’s Special Occasion
isn’t faring so well, as the DTP
crooner’s album drops from #32 to #50 in is 5th week, selling 14k
this week (178k overall).
Timbaland’s Shock Value continues its gradual
decline as the album drops from #42 to #54, with 12k sold this week (369k
overall). Lil’ Boosie and Webbie’s Survival of the Fittest drops steeply this week, shooting all the
way down to #67 (from #35) in its 3rd week. The album sold 10k this
week, bringing the duo’s total sales to 57k. MIMS hit spot #100 this week, with 7k sold (230k overall).
