HHDX News Bits (Yung Joc & Beastie Boys)

    The legendary Hip-Hop group The Beastie Boys has announced dates for their US tour this summer. The tour will alternate between traditional shows and instrumental sets from their forthcoming album The Mix Up. This announcement comes on the heels of the group winning the Webby Award for their documentary film Awesome, I F***ing Shot That.

    The concert series begins August 1 in Philadelphia and will run through August 25 in Berkeley, Ca. Pre-sale tickets will be available Thursday, August 14, through the band’s website www.beastieboys.com. So far, official tour dates have only been given for the vocal performances, with dates for the instrumental Mix Up shows still pending.

    The Beastie Boys are currently touring internationally until late July. Another run of shows in Ireland and the UK is planned for early September. The Mix Up will be available June 26 on Capitol Records. The tour dates are as follows:

    8/1  Philadelphia – Festival Pier
    8/6  Boston – Bank of America Pavilion
    8/8  New York – Summerstage
    8/9  Brooklyn – McCarren Pool
    8/16 Denver – Red Rocks
    8/23 Santa Barbara – County Bowl
    8/25 Berkeley – Greek Theater

    Yung Joc’s sophomore release, Hustlenomics, will be pushed back to August 28, 2007. According to Jason Wiley, Bad Boy Records’ marketing director, the label needs to align its North American and international release schedules. The album was originally scheduled for a July 31 release date. Hustlenomics follows Joc’s debut album New Joc City which spawned the hit singles “It’s Going Down” and “I know You See It.” According to Nielsen Soundscan statistics, the album is just shy of platinum with 930,000 domestic copies sold.
