Gillie Da Kid‘s son YNG Cheese has reportedly been killed in a triple shooting in Philadelphia.
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the shooting took place on Thursday night (July 20) on the 5800 block of Mascher Street in the Olney neighborhood at 8:24 p.m.
A 25-year-old man was shot once in the back and taken to the hospital by police, and was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m.
A 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also shot and taken to the hospital, with both men being placed in stable condition.
Police said one of the victims ran to a nearby home and 10 spent shell casings were found at the scene. No arrests were immediately made and no weapons were recovered.
Police have yet to reveal the identity of the man who died, but a source close to the family confirmed to NBC10 that the victim was Gillie’s son, YNG Cheese.
Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host Wallo took to Instagram following the tragedy to pay tribute to YNG Cheese.
“Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you,” he wrote next to a photo of the late rapper. “Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well!”
21 Savage wrote “Dam gill” in the comments section, while Metro Boomin, E-40, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, Lloyd Banks, Bobby Shmurda and many more aso offered their condolences.
03 Greedo added: “Praying for u @gilliedaking words can’t explain how u feel so we just gon pray big dawg. We care about u.”
Gillie Da Kid has yet to address the tragedy, but the likes of Swizz Beatz, Maino and Joyner Lucas left supportive comments on his most recent Instagram post.
“Sending ultra love to you and your family during this time my brother,” Swizz wrote along with a series of emojis.
2023 is set to be one of the deadliest years for homicides in Philadelphia since data began in 2007, with the figure currently at 235.
Earlier this month, Gillie Da Kid delivered an impassioned plea after a mass shooting in the city left five people dead, including a 15-year-old boy.
“We looking real sad out here, Philly,” he said. “Eight n-ggas shot outside out West, four n-ggas dead, two kids, shot somebody grandmom. When the fuck n-ggas’ kids and grandmoms been on the menu? When is n-ggas’ grandmoms and kids been on the menu, man?
“There was a time you seen a n-gga and was beefing with a n-gga, you seen him with his kids and give him the, ‘Oh, you lucky you with your kids, bitch.’ Because you didn’t even want that type of karma on you because the kids ain’t have nothing to do with this shit.”
He continued: “And you n-ggas isn’t even beefing over no fucking money! You mean to tell me you finna go to jail, sit in jail for a thousand years for shooting n-ggas that you didn’t even mean to shoot? And it ain’t even about no money!
“C’mon man. We gotta get to the old Philly, man, where n-ggas was into getting money. N-ggas was into getting bitches … being fly and n-ggas didn’t want no muthafucking trouble…you n-ggas shooting n-ggas about Instagram captions, man.”
American gun culture is glorified. Keep that shit from around me. I don’t even like to listen to rap talking about that stupid shit anymore. I grew up with guns,a nd I know there is no place for them in a regular, happy life.
American gun culture and gang culture are two different things. It’s the gangs that are glorified. They just happen to use guns. If it wasn’t guns it would be something else.
Gang culture has nothing to do with all of these random people shooting people. Gang culture is stupid too, but American gun culture is part of everywhere in this country, not just certain parts like gang culture. You can go to some random dusty small town, and you have some dude pulling out the strap and shooting people. We glorify guns as a problem solver in this country.
@Silent. Gang culture isn’t the problem? So Chicago, New York, most Bay Area cities (all have so many gun control laws) aren’t having gang shootings everyday? I know it’s easy to side step these issues because they no media coverage, but that is the problem frankly. Not to take away from the atrocities done by some recent shootings at Uvalde and the the Christian school in Nashville. Like most people on here, you just want to look at the second amendment and not hold the people themselves accountable. If it wasn’t guns it would be stabbings. Look at Canada or Japan. Very strict gun control. So criminals move to something else. How are people supposed to protect themselves in that situation? Guns are an equalizer. No matter how you want to paint it, they are a necessity. Shootings like these are sad, and this one is likely gang related. Taking away guns from American citizens who follow the law is not the answer and likely impossible. Let’s just say it happens though. Who’s going to do it? The government with their guns.
please bitch. america is so bad america is so bad. go to any other country. you’ll be BEGGING to come back
This dude has probably never been to another country, just blindly defends the BS of this country. This is something that we could change for the better of the country. Stop trying to convince everyone that it can’t be done. If you don’t have a suggestion for change to better the country, don’t disenchant those desiring something greater.
Rural America has more gun violence than urban areas. Where in the hell have you been? You think they’re gang banging in the corn fields? Like I said, gang violence is stupid as hell too, but American gun culture is a wholly separate thing. Somebody upped and shot up the graduating party full of kids in rural Alabama. Somebody went on a shooting rampage against his wife and her family in rural Mississippi. Somebody shot up the mall in Dallas. Somebody shot up the Fourth of July parade in the richest suburban part of Chicago. The Buffalo shooter at the grocery store. Dude that went on a random shooting rampage in Memphis. There are a million more of these random incidents going on on the daily. What in the fuck do gangs in the Bay Area and LA have to do with that. Also, who said shit about gun control. you’re so itching for a political fight that I wasn’t trying to have, you can’t see the forest for the trees. I said America’s love affair with guns is to blame for all of this shit, and I didn’t say one time about taking anybody’s guns because it’s impossible. Just keep that shit the fuck from around me, which is the same feeling anyone with a brain has.
You’re the bitch because I wasn’t complaining about America. I was complaining about bitch ass fuckers like you who live here.
Ratio’d, no one is riding with your BS
@Silent Whether you like it or not the big cities where there are the most gun control have the most violence. Dallas and Memphis are democrat run cities. Like most of the ones you listed. Remember when we lost Young Dolph in Memphis? I know you want to get mad and blame a tool and not the people who use it. I can almost feel the anger and disbelief cause I think different than most of you here. I’m not even trying to change your mind. It won’t no matter what I say. Also, I didn’t make this political. You did originally when you mentioned the second amendment and what your vision for the country. That makes it political. We could’ve all just said how sad this is. It’s a public policy you are making a case for. The same one I hear all the time. When you throw out an idea like that it makes it political. If you don’t like the second amendment there are plenty of countries without one. Canada has no such thing. They are trying to take people’s guns they hunt with last I heard. Maybe you will like it there more. In closing, the vast majority of shootings are in gang related cities that no one wants to talk about. The narrative must survive. That’s all I got to say any further because this is a fruitless conversation. All I ever read when you’re in hear is how terrible our country is. As if you would have better anywhere else.
Sorry for your loss GIllie (((((((((((((((((((((
Aaaah man, this is very sad for a father to lose his own son. My prayers to Gillie and his wife so they can go through this… RIP kid.
Thats trash. Hold your head Gillie. One day at a time.
umm gillie is satanic and had something to do with it…i watched ”call me kinfolk” video
Thanks for sharing Chatty Patty.
It’s just hard to feel bad for someone who has never felt bad for anyone else. Him and his crew helped cultivate the gang culture in Philly. He brags about it all the time.
Literally no one asked you to feel sorry for Gil and the gang culture been prominent in Philly he only in his 40s. You a POS for even saying that ignorant shit while a father is grieving
Scared to fight but we so quick to shoot smh, hopefully Gillie follow some of that game and don’t go doing something crazy. That said, I have a son and I couldn’t imagine smh
Allegedly, that’s how he got killed. He and his boys were fighting with somebody, and the dude went and got the strap. People need to stop promoting any of this ignorance. Fighting when you’re a grown ass man is not the move. It’s stupid when you’re young, but what the fuck you look like as the son of a multimillionaire and your own career at 26 with two other nearly 30 year olds fighting? It’s not worth it. Walk away and move on.
Nah you used to be able to fight, get your ass whupped and move on. I met my best friend fighting, human beings are always going to have conflict. These kids (you still a kid in your 20s) feel embarrassed to lose at anything with social media around but there’s no excuse for a fight to escalate to a shooting, ever.
Nah, that’s romanticizing the past. Homicides were more in the past. As someone else stated, regularly homicides hit 1000 a year in all of these big cities with less population. Memphis is fucked up now. I lived there 25 years ago. It was fucked up then. Jackson, MS too. Detroit was fucked up then. It’s been fucked up since the government put crack in the hood in the 70s. None of this is any worse than the past and is actually far better in 99% of the country. Go look up homicide statistics. They’re black and white and tell the story. Dummies like dude up top spewing political talking points when rural America has gone to hell in a handbasket is the real story.
many cities in the early 90s were droppin 1000+ bodies a year, in the 70s in small time cleveland just over the summer there were 36 car bommings read a book its the safest time in human history
He was a rapper talking about guns and gangs and in movies showing it. Now his son dies from the same culture. Now he is mad u shouldn’t exploit that if you can’t handle the consequences. Gangs and guns ain’t no joke also rules change over time its not like how he was growing up its worse because what do you think the youth learn it from
It was far worse in the past. until 2020, homicides were on the decline for years and still are nowhere near the crack 80s and early 90s. I question if some of you people have actaully ever been outside. As a matter of fact, Gillie got shot the fuck up himself, which he’s spoken on multiple times.
Gillie is 39 years old and his son is 25 years old? He was a father at age 14? The math ain’t adding up
MY DEEPEST SINCERE CONDOLENCES SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AT THIS TIME OF BEREAVEMENT
