Gillie Da Kid has shared his thoughts in the wake of a devastating mass shooting in his hometown of Philadelphia that occurred over the Fourth of July holiday, and made a desperate plea for the city to clean up its act.

The Million Dollaz Worth of Game host took to Instagram on Wednesday (July 5) to share his thoughts on the tragedy, which took the lives of five people including a 15-year-old boy.

“We looking real sad out here, Philly,” Gillie began. “Eight n-ggas shot outside out West, four n-ggas dead, two kids, shot somebody grandmom. When the fuck n-ggas’ kids and grandmoms been on the menu? When is n-ggas’ grandmoms and kids been on the menu, man?

He continued: “And you n-ggas isn’t even beefing over no fucking money! You mean to tell me you finna go to jail, sit in jail for a thousand years for shooting n-ggas that you didn’t even mean to shoot? And it ain’t even about no money!

Police arrested Kimbrady Carriker, 40, after a brief foot pursuit and charged him with attempted murder and carrying a firearm without a license, according to BBC News. The suspect — who was not required to enter a plea during Wednesday’s court appearance — is currently being held without bail.

“Public safety is clearly an issue. There are no set conditions to ensure the safety of the community,” Judge Naomi Williams said during the hearing.

Carriker allegedly donned a bullet-proof vest and carried an AR-15-style rifle, handgun, police scanner and ammunition when he began opening fire at random along several blocks of Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood on Monday night (July 3).

This is far from the first time Gillie has advocated for safer streets in his hometown. During a visit to his old neighborhood in April, the podcast host was spotted handing out cash to kids outside a store while offering some words of wisdom.

“Stay out the streets,” he told them, with a young girl promising she’d be heading right home after getting the cash.
