G Herbo has found himself on the wrong side of the law yet again, as he was arrested in Chicago over the weekend.

TMZ Hip Hop reported that the rapper was booked on Sunday (July 9) and ultimately charged with a misdemeanor. Authorities hit him with the charge of “unlawful use of a weapon in a public place,” and he’s since bonded out of jail.

However, G Herbo will have to return to court at a later date, which TMZ Hip Hop speculates could spell more of a setback for his career.

This isn’t the first legal setback that the Chicago native has faced.

Back in 2020, he and his crew were charged in an elaborate fraud scheme involving designer puppies, private jets and tropical villas.

According to The Chicago Tribune, Herbo was named in a federal fraud case brought in Massachusetts alleging he, his music promoter and other members of his crew “used stolen identifications to charge more than a million dollars’ worth of exotic services over a four-year period.”

The 14-count indictment, which was filed under seal in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts in September but made public on December 2, states Herbo and his associates scammed trips on private jets, limousine rides, exotic car rentals, a vacation at a Jamaican villa and even two designer puppies purchased for Herbo from a Michigan dealer in 2017.

However, in April, HipHopDX obtained documents from the United States District Court in the District of Massachusetts with regard to Case No. 20-30033-MGM, which features the rapper (real name Herbert Wright III) and five other defendants.

The documents reveal that attorneys for the “Pull Up” rapper have requested — and ultimately, received — their request for a Rule 11 hearing, also known as a Waiver of Indictment hearing, which is “designed to promote the speedy and orderly disposition of cases at a time certain which is most convenient to all parties, and to that end it calls upon defendants’ counsel to aid the court in the disposition of all preliminary motions and other matters relative to pending cases,” per the Massachusetts Criminal Procedure.

The Rule 11 hearing — which, so far, has only been requested by G Herbo — took place on June 12, 2023.

As of this writing, it’s unclear whether the rapper will receive — or even accept — a plea deal, what the plea deal will entail, or whether he will serve jail time.
