Future has teased a new collaborative album with Metro Boomin that’s set to arrive sometime this year.

On Wednesday (January 18), the Atlanta rapper took to his Instagram Story to share a post from another Instagram account claiming the pair are prepping a joint project. Included in the post are photos of Future and Metro together, along with a video of Metro hinting at them reuniting for more than just a few songs.

The clip comes from the Grammy-winning producer’s recent interview with Ebro Darden, where he explained why he didn’t appear on Future’s last album I NEVER LIKED YOU. According to Metro, he was supposed to have produced some songs on the album, but figured it would be better if they recorded a full project together.

“[Future] actually finished most of the album at my studio in LA,” he said. “That’s my brother, but we’re working on some things. At first, we were going to put a couple of songs with me and him on the album, but we had took them off because I had talked to him.”

He continued: “I was like, ‘Look, the last time anybody’s really heard a song from me and you was ‘Mask Off.’ So instead of us randomly throwing one or two songs we did on here, we got to wait and just give them a joint.’”

“Mask Off” remains one of Future’s biggest hits, and in August 2022 was certified 9x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Hendrix and Metro have also linked up for hits like “Honest,” “Wicked,” “Where Ya At” and “Jumpman” featuring Drake.

Most recently, they teamed up on Metro Boomin’s star-studded sophomore LP Heroes & Villains on the tracks “Superhero,” “Too Many Nights,” “I Can’t Save You” and “Lock On Me.”

Elsewhere in his aforementioned interview with Ebro, Metro revealed he’s also working on an album with fellow hitmaker Southside as part of their Neptunes-inspired production duo, So Icey Boyz.

“That’s my twin,” he said of Southside. “So Icey Boyz, that’s our production duo inspired by the whole Neptunes concept. That’s one of those things. I got a lot of stuff lined up, like this Heroes & Villains, after the hiatus. I spilled the beans, but yeah, So Icey Boyz, that’s going to be incredible.”
