Freddie Gibbs & Statik Selektah’s “The Lord Giveth, The Lord Taketh Away” Tracklisting Revealed

While the Hip Hop world anxiously anticipates the outcome of Freddie Gibbs‘ recent decision to sign with Young Jeezy’s Corporate Thugz Entertainment label, the Gary, Indiana lyricist says he’s not worried, nor does he feel much pressure, due to his confidence.

“I didn’t get into this to be the most famous rapper,” he told Conspiracy Worldwide Radio. “I’m just getting started. I haven’t even gotten my feet wet yet, I still got a long way to go. I haven’t even dropped my first album yet. There’s a lot of things that I haven’t done yet, and I’m still further along than other people.”

He confirmed that he will be releasing a collaborative album soon, but when asked about who he’d be collaborating with, he gave little details. “I can’t tell you,” he said. “It’s with a producer. Just me and a producer.”

He also kept mum about whether this producer is one of the top producers in the industry. “He might be. You know, [in the] underground [scene]. I don’t know who gets the most respect production-wise. You got mainstream dudes. You got so many guys out here, but yeah he’s definitely one of the most top respected guys. It ain’t like [Dr.] Dre or Timbaland or anybody like that but it’s [someone] who’s name holds weight…We’re releasing some music from it real soon so people are going to hear it and they’ll know who it is.”

Freddie Gibbs has not yet released a full album, but may drop his debut this year. His interview below, begins at the 1 hour 39 minute mark.

    1. Indeed. It’s the Alchemist collabo. Been word about it for a few now. And I said before he got on an ALC beat that Al has the best sound for him. It’s taylor made to a tee.

I hope he does well with the CTE thing. But to me personally, it’s a bad fit just off of that sound. The overbearing beats are just too much and take away from his lyricism.

    2. since he singed to cte it can be a south producer , i think it will be drumma boy or shawty redd

    3. I think it’s definitely one of these guys:

      Kno
      Statik Selektah
      The Alchemist
      Black Milk

I’m psyched though. Gibbs has an impeccable ear for beats so whoever it is, you know it’s gonna bang.

      1. I agree; my original guess is Kno with Statik at a close second. Just think of a Gangsta Gibbs/Kno album…wow

    4. If it’s Selektah I’m excited. I first heard Gibbs over that Selektah beat on LA leakers. And Gibbs killed it. It’s really a good route, for those who enjoy straight hip hop.

    5. WTF happened to my original comment??

Anyways, my guess is either alchemist or statik selektah. Either way im excited than a muthafucka!

    6. Statik is definitely nice on with his, but if FG releases an album that’s DEEEEP underground and he doesn’t get any radio play, isn’t that a problem for all concerned? Now he’s mad at Jeezy b/c he’s dropped a dope album, but the label “didn’t promote it right.”

    7. This is a great look as well if true! (no homo). Also is a perfect match for Gibbs sound wise.

    8. I’m confused.. Freddie already worked with Statik on Str8 Killa. Why make it asecret if they’ve already worked together?? Anybody?

      1. Statik hosted freddie’s mixtape and only produced 2 cuts on it. On THIS collaborative album its freddie gibbs and 1 producer, who is to produce ALL of the album’s tracks. Also statik only outed himself as the possible producer (who will, again, make all of beats for the album) but didnt flat out say he is. Its also very possible that alchemist could be the producer as well since they were suppose to come out with an EP together called The Devil’s Palace. Point is, whoever this sole producer is gonna be, its gonna be a dope producer providing freddie with serious heat im sure. I hope i explained this well enough.

      1. U act like this is a nationwide major label debut album thats gonna be released…..your comment is a fail!!! but nice try on attempting to knock any success gibbs get.

    9. this is a TERRIBLE IDEA. have any of you heard the “24 hour” project Saigon did with SS? complete garbage.

      1. After a while it don’t matter if you can spit flows like saigon can its more about those battle rhymers like mc juice and supernatural that can spit for a long period of time because they are used to it.

      2. dumbass kids..saigon’s shit with statik was fuckin hot.this the first time i’ve heard otherwise…”when i spit the room temperature change”

    10. Saigon joint was tight, Freeway joint was tight. checkout ‘and it don’t quit”. they aren’t long and they’re raw and not mastered the best But good beats with good MC’s is a win win
