Foxy Brown Pleads Guilty; Avoids Jail Time

In the increasingly long list of Foxy Brown’s legal adventure, the rapper’s most recent entry came when she plead guilty on March 1st for violating her probation.

Brown was arrested in Florida on Feb. 15th after causing a disturbance in a beauty shop. Police officials say that Brown, born Inga Marchand, did not receive permission from her probation officer to leave New York.

At a press conference on Monday Feb. 26th, Foxy defended herself: “For the last week, I have been vilified in the media as assaulting a store owner…the only crime I am guilty of committing is being a young black female celebrity in Broward County.”

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson offered Foxy yet another chance, allowing the rapper to continue her current probation, which is 3 years and includes anger management classes. The official charge from the incident in Florida was battery and resisting an officer with violence. Judge Jackson warned Brown that another violation could result in a sentence of a year in prison.
