Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 2/25/2007

    may
    have stepped out of the to 10 last week, but the singer’s album Konvicted is
    back, coming in at #5 this week. The album moves 73k this week, bringing in a
    total of 1.6 million sold. Gnarls Barkley did not fare so well, as the
    Grammy buzz behind the group seems to have died down. The duo tumbles 29 spots
    into #73, with their album St. Elsewhere bringing in only 12k(1.2m
    million sold overall).

    Rap’s
    veterans are stepping up this week, as we see small boosts from Young Jeezy,
    Eminem, Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg.

    Motivation 102
    jumps 13 spots into #24, selling 26k (884k overall). Eminem
    and his crew jump 8 spots to #52 as Eminem Presents: The Re-Up sells
    16k this week (889k overall). Jay-Z moves up from #67 to #55, as Kingdom
    Come
    pushes 15k units, bringing Hov’s total to 1.3 million. Finally,
    Snoop’s Blue Carpet Treatment comes in at #68 (from #73) and
    sells 12k, bringing the west coast vet’s total to 794k.

    The
    real story this week is indie group Gym Class Heroes. The group’s album As
    Cruel As School Children
    jumps an amazing 20 spots to #49, outselling Eminem,
    Jay-Z
    and Ludacris with 16k sold. Back to the top of the chart, Corinne
    Bailey Rae
    continues to make a name for herself, as the singer’s
    self-titled album remains in the top 10 at #8, pulling in another 56k, bringing
    her total to 1.1 million overall. Justin Timberlake’s Futuresex/LoveSounds
    is one spot above bringing in 62k, putting JT’s total at 2.8 million.
